Grant's Tobacconist Macon Supreme
(3.75)
Mild Vanilla & Cherry Cavendish with a touch of perique. The recipe is one of superlative tobaccos, out of the ordinary in taste and appearance - a blend of rich taste, consistent smoothness and minimum of "bite". Grant's uses only the best-aged tobacco leaf. Care is taken in blending to achieve a proper balance of the various tobaccos blended. To achieve smoothness, we meld (or wed) each blend before packaging. All of Grant's blends are prepared in batches of less than 25 pounds - to assure the discriminating smoker that consistent quality is never compromised.

I have had little luck with so-called "cherry" blends before trying this one. Most of them fry your tongue and either do not taste like tobacco or do not taste like cherry. This blend is different.
Macon Supreme is exactly as it describes itself: vanilla and cherry. The perique is clearly there, but very much in the background. It burns pretty well for an aromatic of this type and does not have to be relit THAT often. Amazingly, it does not bite like so many cherry blends do and it's a very cool smoke. It will likely leave your pipe with its flavors though, so smoke this in a cob. It goes without saying that the room note is so pleasant that you could almost imagine that people will be begging you to blow this smoke in their face! My only complaint is that there could be a bit more perique, but I can (and likely will) remedy this at home by adding a little more.
Lastly, I want to second BEN's comment: I am really excited that Grant's Pipe Shop made it into this forum. Grant's is IMHO the best tobacconist in San Francisco hand-down. This shop is a throwback to another time and the staff is extremely knowledgeable. Their other aromatic blends are equally good too!
