A surprisingly balanced and enjoyable OTC blend! I bought this in a experimental mood, I had 10 bucks spare and bought the pouch for a 8,75€ at an "Kiosk" (they have 4-5 pipe blends, if they have some at all).

As I opened the pack I was quite surprised, that they must've changed the recipe. It now says: "40& B. Cavendish, 60% Virginia, Vanilla&Choco aroma". But tbh I highly suspect that there is some Burley in it, too! Upon opening the classicaly and inviting designed pouch I instantly noticed a rich chocolate- and nut scent, whilst the nutty quality is a bit more prominent. You can clearly tell this is an aromatic right away, yet I found the pouch aroma to be pleasant and appetizing for when I get a sweet tooth.

The ribbon cut is pressed densly into the pouch and its appearance is dominated from black and golden-yellow colours. Typical Cavendish blend and cut. My pouch came perfectly conditioned to smoke it right out of the pouch, so lighting and keeping lit was as easy as filling the bowl with the classic ribbon-cut.

Scandinavian Mixture's taste is truly Scandinavian - or "danish"! A rich nutty flavour which in interplay with the (milk-)chocolaty aroma results in a very Burley-like tasting experience. I barely detect the vanilla and I think it's well interlaced into the nutty- and chocolaty aromatization, just to tone up the rather dark and intense choco-nut flavour. The Virginias are detectable, yet rather subtle, but well woven into the flavour-profile, offering slightly bready notes, as well as I perceive hints of malt. No grassy, nor hay-ish aroma from the Virginias, but a slightly citrusy-sour quality is lurking in the back, which balances the dark and rich choco-nut flavour and the decent spice this blend has to offer. The tangy spice is slightly peppery and and present throughout the smoke, building up while progressing through the bowl.

Not a bad Aromatic at all, really! Very pleasant room-note.

2,5/4 stars, not the best aromatized tobacco I've smoked, but one of the better ones, and I certainly see an audience for this blend (my "Kiosk" holds this blend all the time, they say its bought very often). A(nother) gratifying experience with an OTC aromatic - they aren't all bad, or goopy/drowned in sauce.

I hesitated for a while before deciding to try this one. The last BR I tried was Bourbon Whiskey, back in 2012 or 13. The casing had given me a big headache while smoking it. So I really wasn't sure about this one. But, considering it was a new offering, curiosity won over my suspicions. And, you know what, it's not bad at all. Much better than the classic offerings, that is. The pouch description says 40% Black CA and 60% VAs. My tastebuds tell me there is also some BU in there, but I'm not sure about its %; but it's definitively there. Surprisingly, the tobacco is slightly moist, but not sticky at all. The pouch aroma is very delicate, dominated by chocolate and some vailla, I think. It's, actually, elegant and pleasant. The cut and proportions remind me of Amphora Black Cavendish, a drugstore blend I used to love and buy on a regular basis. There is also the aroma of BR's Black CA, very recognizable. Packing is easy and so is lighting up. Taste wise, there is the Black CA and the chocolate and vanilla. Tobacco taste is not very discernable, but it's there. The VAs and BUs are also there as there is a slight nuttiness to the smoke. It burns very well, bites only if I puff too hard - which I have a tendency to do as the nicotine content is mild to medium, but closer to the mild spectrum. It burns dry all the way down. It's a decent drugstore blend, much much better than the Bourbon Whiskey, Black Cavendish and Original Mixture. It will not be part of my regular rotation but, if I'm travelling, running a bit short on tobacco and see some on a shelf, I will grab a pouch or two if my choices are limited.
