Mac Baren Honey & Chocolate
(2.68)
A fine loose cut blend made of a very special kind of cavendish. The long and delicate cavendish process makes this blend soft and smooth with a taste of honey and chocolate.
Notes: Discontinued 2014.

A nice smooth smoking tobacco. The tin aroma is great ,the nice smell of dark chocolate.Upon smoking my 2 year aged tin there is a light smell of cocoa,no overpowering aroma's.Burns, smokes, and tastes well. Can become harsh if smoked to fast, but it's worth a try.

Being a regular Vanilla Cream from Mac Baren puffer, I thought I would give this a try. To my taste it is a pretty decent aromatic cavendish though not as extraordinary in smell as its older brother. Opening the tin I got a smell which resmbled me of chocolate, not the candy bar but rather the cocoa powder used to season a hot milk cup. I could not find any honey smell in it so far.. Maybe later... It needs to be puffed slowly and gently and larger bowls seem better than smaller ones. The room aroma is good but not overpowering. My wife liked it but she preffers the Vanilla Cream scent over this one. All in all a decent tobacco. Not sure if I will get a second tin after this one finishes though. I tend to preffer Mixture Oiginal, Navy Flake or Vanilla Cream, when I am out of my English blend cravings.
September 26th I have to say that after 4 or 5 bowls of this one I changed my opinion...unfortunatelly to worse... There is something wrong with this blend... It burns like pepper fromth first char of light stricken into the bowl... If you smoke a bit faster it will bite for sure.. The aroma is not very pronounced and it made me a bit dizzy and dried my palate a bit... It is not a lid strenght tobacco. And I will not be getting it again...There are much much better Mac Baren blends... My fave is Vintage Syrian

Although I usually find some MacBaren blends somewhat hot, tongue biters, this blend seems to be the ultimate exception. As an after dinner treat, (or in the morning with coffee), especially with coffee or coffee stout beer, this is a pleasure to smoke. The chocolate flavoring is not overdone as with many aromatics, and not powerful enough to cover some recognition of tobacco taste all the way down the bowl. I can't buy enough of this to keep in my chair-side bowl to keep my pipe smoking friends and relatives supplied. It burns cleanly to a fine white ash, and bowl size does not seem to compromise it's enjoyment. I am almost strictly an English/Balkan, Va/Per smoker myself, occasionally this will fit in special moments. One major factor is this is a major crowd pleaser for you garage smokers. Try it, you will like it.

This is an outstanding aromatic. My favorite so far.
MacBaren came up with a delicious aromatic that is of impeccable quality and craftsmanship.
The tin aroma is deep with bittersweet chocolate. I am under the impression that I am holding a chocolate bar in my hands rather than tobacco. The honey aroma will be detectable after the tin has been opened for a couple of days.
The tobacco is dark and broad cut. Moisture level is minimal.
Lighting up is elementary and the mixture stays easily lit. It only requires the occasional relight. The nicotine content is actually interesting for an aromatic, which is another good point added. Probably due to the proper aging of the leaf.
All I taste is tobacco and chocolate. The honey is very discreet. This mixture smokes dry and does not bite at all. But this is explainable by the fact that it is a dark tobacco. The darker the mixture, the less the risk of biting is present. It will pick up in strength past half-bowl.
This is the best aromatic I have ever tried. It tastes like an aromatic but smokes like a natural tobacco. And the nicotine content is acceptable. I will definitively rebuy on a regular basis.

i love chocolate so i had high expectations for this tobacco. when i opened the tin a noticed that it was a little dry but i didnt care because the aroma of bittersweet chocolate made me forget this was even tobacco to begin with lol! this burned fast and hot but i did indeed taste the chocolate but not the honey. however i did some experimenting and mixed it with some VA and i got a really nice smoke. the contrast of both burning characteristics made a balancing blend which i was satisfied with.

One of the better chocolate blends that I've smoked. Although I didn't find it to be overly sweet, as the "honey" in the name suggests, I found that to be a plus. I bought the tobacco in bulk and didn't find it to be too moist at all. Although I typically find Mac Baren tobaccos to bite horribly, this one doesn't.
The flavor is that of dark chocolate, tobacco and a bit of perique. It has a nice flavor, but is not as rich as the aroma of the tobacco in the bag suggests. The perique in the blend is used as a condiment and in perfect amounts as it really adds an appealing dimension to the blend.
It burned clean and didn't goop up my pipe. I would not hesitate to purchase the product again, and in bulk.
Ounce for ounce, currently my favorite overall smoke.

I have always loved aromatics for their aroma, but they have always been a problem for the good health of my pipes. Also, the flavor tends to fade away very quickly in order to become non existant. So I have always stayed away from them.
Somehow, MacBaren's H&C appealed to me. And MacBaren has hit the jackpot with that incredible mixture. An all black CA that has obviously aged carefully and properly, it is not wet and/or sticky. This is tobacco, not hookah stuff. It presents a broad cut tobacco that smells like dark chocolate mixed with honey. It lights up easily, smokes like a charm and leaves the pipe dry. Tastes like chocolate and honey all the way with some pure tobacco presence. It has character in terms of strength and nicotine. It is not a boring mixture!
I'm surprised to say that I LOVE this tobacco. I will rebuy many tins and smoke them with pleasure. Because it is a top of the notch aromatic.

I have been looking for a chocolate blend that suits my tastes. I've tried many blends and although I liked some of them they just didn't quite cut it as a chocolate blend. Now I know that what I was looking for was a blend where chocolate was the center of attention, now i've found it. There's still plenty of tobacco flavor and the blend has body. However, the chocolate flavoring is very prominent in both taste and aroma. Other blends I've tried probably use the chocolate flavoring to bring out certain qualities in the tobaccos used, but with MB Honey & Chocolate chocolate is, as I've said, the center of attention.
Even though the chocolate is prominent and the tin smell strong the flavoring does not overpower the tobacco flavor, it actually enhances it. It is NOT "perfumy" or "soapy" or overwheelmingly sweet as some have said. The tobacco isn't sticky to the touch and it burns really good without leaving any goopy residue at the bottom of the pipe.
Further, I should mention that this blend is very well crafted. There is a great deal of complexity and it really captures the essence of dark chocolate, which is sweet but also has a touch of bitterness. And finally, although the nicotine content isn't off the charts it satisfies and the flavor is very full (the tobacco flavor).
I highly recommend this blend to anyone who is still looking for that "perfect" chocolate blend and has not found one with enough flavor to satisfy. Now, if you've never liked aromatics then stay away from this stuff since it's not the "miracle" blend that will change your mind.

Here is one that scared me back into sedation. I mean, as an aromatic choice, even for Mac Baren, this is a potent concoction.
Like any Mac B smoke, I stuck my nose into it first and it was kinda scary. Good scary if you like aromatics.
I like some weird stuff, smelly and strong stuff too, but this is a bird altogether. There is a straight flat chocolate front to this tobacco, as goes the smell.
It pretty much tastes that way, too. Flat, dark strong, kinda chocolate, non tobacco. I can see the allusion to 1792 here, really, but this a bit like 1792 lite. Not lite flavor-wise, but lite in the tobacco department. Also lite in the Tonka, too, but the idea is similar.
Me, I couldn't finish half a bowl and I won't try another. But I can see how a guy could like it. I won't disagree with the best things said about (no Honey) & Chocolate but I'm not jumping into the mix either.
A true Mac Baren quality aromatic.

This blend represents truth in advertising: It's called Honey and Chocolate and those are certainly the flavors you get. I've tried about half a dozen chocolate flavored tobaccos and this is among my favorite. The sweetness is strong, yet not overpowering. While it burns a little hot like most aromatics, it did not cause me any tongue bite. Best of all, I didn't get any stickiness or taste left in my pipe. No need to use your cheap pipe for this one, it won't ruin your briar for future blends.
Best of all, the wife loves the smell of it.
