A bit damp upon popping the tin; drying out seems to help a bit.
I've got nothing bad to say about Opening Night, and while it is certainly a quality blend, it does not compare with Mc Cranie's, and Rattray's highly rated Virginia's, as well as Full Virginia Flake. Were these blends unavailable, I'd certainly give Opening Night a second look.
I've smoked this blend from a fresh tin as well as one aged 2.5 years. Surprisingly, the additional time did nothing to improve the tobacco.

I find no pleasure in giving a one star to a tobacco, as I also feel strange seeing how many historic members of this forum consider this tobacco an excellent Virginia while I am quite disappointed by it.
I've tried it in many pipes: those I dedicate only to Virginia, those in which I smoke Virginia and Perique and those magic pipes that smoke well with everything.
Nothing, not an inch of pleasure, just few and rapid glimpses of what I'd expect from a straight Virginia, leaving me with a short illusion and a burning delusion.
Maybe this mélange belongs to another class, like the two elegant people on its etiquette, maybe I'm not supposed to be there, at the opening night.
It's not that bad, I always preferred the backstage anyway...
