Summary: nice deep Burley flavor from a plug that needs a decade of aging to remove bite
Bright Virginias bring both sugar and acidity to the table, and this makes for blends with "chemical bite," or a stinging in the mouth if you are sensitive to a certain pH range (much like some are sensitive to the vegetal flavors or chemicals of Burley, such that it hits them much harder than its nicotine rating would indicate). This blend is delicious but bitey. The clove and geranium top flavor, despite resembling a Land of the Dead of old lady funeral home soap-drenched spirits, fits perfectly with this and gives it an incense-like quality that rivals that of Latakia. The Burley lurks in the background like honey used in a bread recipe, coming out only as the stream of smoke lingers on the tongue. In my view, the "Bright CR Flake" might have less of the sting and more of the same flavor that we get from GH in "Kendal Gold." This leaf, while flavorful like buttered whole wheat honey toast, will probably require many years in the cellar to lose its sting.
