Peretti Thanksgiving Day

(3.27)
A yearly blend for Thanksgiving. A ribbon/cube cut blend pressed together into four ounce cakes.
Notes: As many of our friends are aware, ‘Thanksgiving Day’, a four-ounce pressed cake has been a tradition since 1939. Year after year, we make it available in a limited capacity starting on November first. This effort keeps us tied to our roots when Major Joseph Peretti, father of Robert Peretti, set forth to blend Peretti’s Burley and English mixtures. The Major wanted to create a blend with the essence of the holiday season, and after countless trials, a mixture of 7 different tobaccos blended with a balance of dark rum and fruit juices was concocted and pressed into breakable 4 ounce cakes. This process has not changed since the first batch was taken from the press.

This is not your typical fluffy Holiday blend full of sugar and spice and everything goopy. This is a well blended, subtly aromatic, hearty holiday blend full of flavor. It is by far my favorite holiday blend so far. The Burleys give this blend a smooth nutty flavor and the Virginias add a lot of character and smokiness. This is a truly old school Aromatic with subtle and thoughtful toppings, not some fluffy in your face blend found all too often in today's marketplace.

It comes in a Kake and only once a year starting November 1st until gone.

4 well deserved stars from me.

Thanksgiving Day is a fantastic burley blend. No goop, no mess, break off a corner of the cake and let dry for 10-15 minutes and stuff your pipe. The topping is light, almost unnoticeable in the blend. Great nutty burley taste, with a hint of anise. Very old timey, codger burley with a tiny bit of fruit sweetness and spice in the background. The topping is most notable in the room note with hints of pomegranate, clove and a great pipey smell. I love it!

Thanksgiving Day is a delightful aromatic with Burley and some Virginia. Both are top drawer leaf. Pressed crumble cake with some rum and warm spices of the season. A deft touch Lakeland is also present, but not enough to overpower the blend. Some grassy citrus from the Virginia with the bulk of the flavor from the earthy, nutty Burley. Packs and burns well with few relights. No excess moisture one very little dottle. All in all a smooth seasonal blend that is hard to beat. Glad I bought 2 cakes this year as they are going fast for me! Solid 4 and a blend that I plan to make an annual indulgence.
