Uhle's Hunt Club Blend

The blend I am reviewing is the VA/Per version of Hunt Club. The in store "menu" is still wrong but the blend has been a VA/Per for the last few years (2016 on at the least). Tin note is sweet: light figs, honey and sweet hay like VA's. Pretty sure there is a light topping here (I am going with honey or molasses), but it is more there for the pouch/tin note than it is for flavor. This is a solid Va/Per of the mild variety, light on Perique but not on flavor. There is a bready quality to the smoke (think lightly sweet pastry) that is accompanied by dark fruits: figs and raisins. The Perique has some light pepper to it and you do get the tingle on the retrohale as one would expect. The smoke is pretty consistent with some toasty notes coming in during the 2nd half of the bowl. This isn't an Escudo match, but it does have some similarities, particularly in the sweetness. I think I detect the topping in the smoke but since I cannot say for sure I will stick with "none detected". Nice addition to the VA round up.

I had purchased a sample of Hunt Club years ago and hadn't gotten around to trying it, three weeks ago i found the sample in my humidor, happy as can be and loaded her up. Very mild cocoa casing on top of their famous Burley, not an Aromatic in the goopy gooper sense, I mean a casing that's mild as can be with no wet heel or steaming of the palate. Outstanding and extremely gentle on the tongue with enough Burley oomph to know I'm not smoking hot air but not C&Ds cigar like dark Burley, perfect all around like Goldilocks.. If your looking for a super Aromatic with divine room note order Black Stoker as this has just a cricket fart of chocolate added.. I attempted to order a half pound but was told they were out of Hunt Club and that I would have to wait for it to be blended and aged a bit. Fast forward to today, I got my little pillow of tastyness and fired up another wonderful bowl which matches perfectly to the spring weather we're having this week. Call Uhles and try their blends before we lose them like so many other American blenders, it's worth your time..

This is one of the better behaved aromatics out there. To paraphrase another reviewer, if you like the description -- high quality burley scented with chocolate -- you'll like the blend. Well worth trying if you want to smoke in the house, or make friends at the dog park.

I'm trying a small bag of this. So far, I've enjoyed it. It is a little sweet, actually quite delicious, but I am not really an aromatic smoker. Perfection Plug is still my fave, but this ain't bad. I think aromatics smokers will love it. The tobacco quality and taste is as usual with the Uhle's blends I've tried which is to say, completely superb.

A very nice aromatic. I found it to be like many other aromatics in flavor but the quality of the tobacco is much higher. A good no brainer for mowing the lawn. you WILL win friends with this one and women love it. 3 of 4 aromatic stars.
