Galway is prepared expertly by Dan Tobacco in a form that is certainly remindful of Ireland with its preparation. Each puff delivers plug style old world Virginia flavor with the addition of the Vanilla to sweeten the pot of gold and the end of the rainbow. A lightly aromatic Virginia with the sprayed Black Cavendish offering support.

After smoking nothing but aromatics and then subsequently swearing to never smoke them ever again, a friend sent me a tin. Reading the frequent comments regarding bite, I still wasn't very interested. Realizing that aromatics (generally) taste of nothing but casing, I held off longer.
The tin was opened before it came to me and I didn't bother opening it when it arrived. I'm too addicted to Northwoods and Early Morning Pipe and Countryside and Artisans Blend to be bothered.
Then, out of boredom one day, I opened the tin. Bam. Loved the smell immediately. Still reluctant because I don't care about room note as much as I once did. Roughed some up in the tin, it wasn't moist.
Packed my least used pipe, I dare not foul one of my pipes selected for the English.
In short, it packed well, lit well, burned long (AND COOL) and there was just enough flavour to keep me coming back. Strange. It did leave a bit of a residue behind, but oh well.
Not 4 Stars because it's not an English but it should be because I love touring around Galway.
Limerick is next.

A sound aromatic, subtle hints of Vanilla and fruit, good tobacco background taste. Not too bitey, not too soapy, a hint of campfire and pepper adds to its depth. Worth a try for the aromatic man.

I purchased this because I saw it referred to in a review of Ashton's Rainy Day (which I enjoy) as being similar. I would say it is only remotely similar. I've only smoked a couple of bowls and I like it a lot. Smokes dry and cool and right to the bottom of the bowl. Surprisingly the last puff or two had a flowery note I hadn't picked up on earlier. It's what I call spectator friendly and would only offend the nose of those who like to be offended.
Don't think it would ever become my go-to smoke because I'm pretty much a VA kind of guy. However I think I'll keep a tin around for a change of pace. It smoked well right out of the tin - didn't need any drying time. I plan on letting it age a bit and see what happens.

This blend really hits its strong point after it has had a chance to dry out a bit. The vanilla gets a bit less offensive and compliments the VA's. There is a bit of earthiness that stays in the background but adds a bit of complexity, more so than I am used to in a aromatic. Overall a great blend.

Not an everyday smoke but a sure treat with a stout ale.
Tin came somewhat dry,but this is good for many aromatics.A concoction of black and brown broken strips that packs well. Perfect in a Stanwell calabsh or any Meerschaem, while looking over green pastures. The taste brought forth a myriad of essences.

Tin note smells strongly of berries, but when smoking this the berries are definitely in the background. The tobaccos are spicy and woody, making this feel like something out of the forest. I find it difficult to detect the vanilla in general, but I have discovered the vanilla note seems to be mostly contained with the cube cut pieces. If you put the cubed pieces on top then you'll get a wonderful vanilla flavour. The cube cut pieces are a delight, making this burn slower and enhancing that woody note from the Virginias.
I was surprised by this blend. This was given to me as a gift, and I was worried it would be an overly sweet aromatic — however this is not the case! This is subtle and lets the tobacco shine. I can recommend it for the occasional aromatic indulger who isn't a big fan of the type. This loses a few points for me as it is not an all day smoke and doesn't have a big nicotine hit to compensate for that fact.

Indeed a very nice tobacco. Black Cavendish and sweet vanilla. Another nice European tobacco which confirms the difference in philosophy. It doesn?t need any drying, and it can be smoked dry till the end, it doesn?t warm up the bowl. Very soft vanilla, you could say that it is bitter vanilla. Generally I don?t like vanilla but here it appears discreet. It is not the perfect tobacco for me but I want to have two boxes to change the flavor from time to time.

The original idea for this tobacco, combining vanilla and wild herbs, finds full release in the taste of "Treasures of Ireland: Galway"; that has an intriguing personality. The sweet vanilla goes well with the bitter taste of the herbs, creating a tasteful and never boring bouquet. This tobacco is able to give different sides in the same smoke, making it a very interesting choiche.
