Cornell & Diehl - Barrister.

I see the description has it as being coarse cut but when I opened mine the first word to jump to mind was medium; for a few reasons. Medium size ribbons and medium brown in colour. I'd have preferred more moisture, it feels a little dry to the touch. This makes me prejudicate a 'fast' burn may be around the corner!

The flavour's quite nice. At first I get mostly caustic, cuspidate, white Burley. After a third I begin to get more of the dark Burley, a little sweeter tasting. The Virginia acts as the stage for the Burleys, by providing the usual hay-like flavour, and the Latakia comes last. It isn't completely inert, it can be tasted, but don't expect much of it! So, the flavour's good, but why the low rating? Well, as my presupposition from the appearance had me expecting, it burns fast, hot, and bites.

Nicotine: medium. Room-note: not great.

Barrister? A good flavour, but badly behaved in the pipe. Somewhat recommended:

Two stars.

I wasn't familiar with this blend when I saw a tin at a local shop, and reading the description (Latakia with other choice tobaccos) led me to believe it was an English blend. Turns out this is a burley blend, and not being a fan of burley forward blends I was disappointed from the start.

It's was perfect moisture, and easy to light. There was some ok flavor I suppose, but certainly not good enough to make me rethink burleys. I could not detect any Latakia at all in this which is odd since it's the only tobacco the tin specifically mentions.

Overall, disappointed and gave the tin away. I almost gave this 1 star, but decided to give it 2 stars only because Burley fans may enjoy it.

Pretty plain tobacco. This is essentially a burley tobacco with tiny amounts of virginia and latakia, which really don't add a whole lot. I prefer most other C & D blends to this one.
