McGahey The Tobacconist Buckland Curlies

The perique offers a lot of spice, raisins, earth, wood, some figs and plums as the lead component. The Virginias provide a lot of earth, tart citrus, wood, some grass and a few sugary, tangy dark fruit, spice, and acidic notes in a secondary role. The honey from the cavendish is mild. It has a little smoke, nuts, wood, grass, vegetation, light spice and a floral quality that I generally associate with the dark fired process, so I will claim a little is present. The strength is a couple of steps past the medium mark, while the taste is in the center of medium to full. The nic-hit is medium. I suggest a slow puffing cadence due to the high spice content or you risk tobacco bite. Burns clean, a tad warm, and a little slow with a very consistent, mildly sweet and more savory, spicy flavor that translates to the lingering after taste. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and requires some relights. Not an all day smoke. It reminds me of a Mac Baren product in some respects, e.g. honey, sugar, the Virginias, and the dark fired spice, more than it does the VaPer Three Nuns of yesteryear. Three stars for the taste, two for the bite potential.
