Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake (No. 403)

(3.33)
A blend of ripe Virginia tobacco spiced with pure Louisiana Perique. The distinctive aroma of Perique combined with the natural sweetness of Virginia tobaccos provides a wonderful characteristic taste. The center of mellow, fermented Black Cavendish serves to smoothen the general impression and rounding the taste. It is all a handcrafted process from selecting the best tobacco, blending, rolling, cutting, and packing. The result is an unparalleled smoking experience.
Notes: This replaced "Luxury Curly Cut" in the P.S. lineup in 2006, and is now one of their best sellers in the American market.

This is my review from ten years back... I've since joined TRs again under a different handle but thought I might as well reiterate. I've sampled Escudo Navy De Luxe & Dunhill's Deluxe Navy Rolls, which are my two favorites of this genre as well as the newer Mac B's Navy Rolls, Davidoff Flake Medallions, so, I thought why not give Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Bullseye Flakes a try as well. I bought a trial, one oz. bag from P & C along with some other tins as I couldn't resist the bargain price for a chance to sample another Perique blend with this Cavendish "pupil." All of these twist rolls are thinly sliced about penny thickness and the diameter of a silver dollar.

As most of us are aware, the Stokkebye family has been churning out excellent blends for over a hundred years & the flake medallions are no exception. The Perique wasn't overwhelming & the apportionment of the varietals was as good as could be expected & melded into a tasty treat. However, I preferred the Escudo & Dunhill's Deluxe Navy Rolls as well as Mac B's Navy Rolls over these tasty Stokkebye cut, twist flakes. That's not to say I didn't enjoy them but we all have different taste receptors & I simply can't rate this as high as the favorites I've named. Also, I simply love some of Eric Peter Stokkebye's aromatic blends... especially their 4th Generation Family Reserve. It is simply irresistible in aroma & flavor. The best aromatic I've ever smoked.

I prefer the heavier thicker rectangular flakes than the coin type flakes but they sure do look pretty and rub out very easily. The light grassy hay flavor is quite nice on a hot day and the light perique finish keeps this blend entertaining but its light nicotine level keeps it from being a favorite. I have both escudo and LBF on hand and while both are very similar I prefer LBF since it has the neat little centers that give off a flavor explosion when flame hits them. I took another reviewers suggestion and broke up the centers of two coins and placed the pieces in layers throughout the bowl, a lot of fun to unexpectedly hit one of these pieces and get a burst of sweetness. Price is spot on for a bulk purchase and the quality is high.

Yes it is relatively inexpensive, I prefer to pay the extra premium and smoke Escudo or Dunhill navy rolls, this tobacco bites and is not smooth whatsoever you certainly get what you pay for.I don't have that may years left to smoke inferior tobacco.....Thanks for listening

Something of a novelty for tobacco retailers in Hollywood and Los Angeles but nonetheless a dry and anaemic version of ..... some other Bulls Eye Concept. Now look what you could have won....

I like all of Peters Luxury line.Except this.Thought it would be a bulk offering similar to Escudo. So far it has never smoked that way.Escudo I like, this tastes, smells and I am told it smells like cigarettes, and my family and friends are usually very indulgent about my other tobacco choices---Balkans/English/Vaper/Vabur/Va/Burley/OTC/Old GymSocks whatever. They don't care for the smell of this, and quite frankly nor do I.If it works for you, have at it!It is not for me.

Well I prefer AC Peterson's Escudo & Davidoff's Flake Medallions in quality and taste to this blend. That comparison may not be fair with this being a bulk tobacco and my preferred VaPers are tinned but this was available at my local B&M.
