Peretti Boston Slices
(3.00)
This a blend of all Virginias like the Oxford flake only milder in body and significantly lighter in color due to the tobaccos used.

One of my favorite Full Virginia blends to date (and I’m not a VA fan). This blend tastes like Orlik Gold Slice and Granger had a baby. I say Granger even though there’s no burley because there’s that slightly floral characteristic of Granger in Boston Slices and it has a bit more body to it than OGS.
A solid smoke and worth trying out of you’re into medium bodied VA tobaccos.

This is a very nice natural light Virginia flake. Similar to Oxford Flake but a little less smooth and more sweet. This is the definition of an all day smoke in that it burns very easily with minimum relights. The flavor, as others have noted, is consistent throughout the bowl. It is mild, but will bite if pushed, particularly at the beginning, so you need to go slow. I taste some citrus, light fruit, the aforementioned sweetness, and a base "wood" taste that I love and am always searching for. I like this better than Oxford Flake.

This blend has a great smell in the tin. Grassy, hay and a little bit of vinegar. As far as the flavor goes when smoking it's a fairly straight forward Virginia. I taste hay and grass most strongly. The blend is slightly sweet. It's not a complex blend but that's not a bad thing. It's good quality, simple tobacco, the perfect all day smoke. The flake rubs out nicely and the blend burns very well. I had no issues with tongue bite, which often bothers me with Virginias. Edited to add: If you're trying to introduce a friend to pipe smoking this is a solid choice. The flavor isn't enough to overwhelm a new smoker but it's not as subtle as an aromatic. It burns easily, shouldn't cause any tongue bite and has a nice smell.
