Hearth & Home Grandma's Kitchen

(2.14)
Nutty sweet burleys are combined with the mild spice of red Virginia, two natural toasted black cavendishes, and a bit of a vanilla based steamed black cavendish. This mild, cool blend delivers real tobacco flavor with a hint of sweetness, and a pleasant, unobtrusive aroma.

“Just Like What Grandma used to Smoke..."

This is a very good blend in my opinion, but I'm a burley guy, not too impressed with strong aromatics. This one is Burleys up front, VA close in tow with cavendish now and again. Tin note is deep vanilla, lightly applied. You really only get any tin note at all with your sniffer right in the tin. Once you get there it's vanilla, then burley nut, then a little something from the VA, some spice light enough that I have to leave you guessing as I still am. This weed handles well in packing and lighting but for some reason needs more spark at the halfway point and then again further down. Not sure why that is. Flavor is burley with slight vanilla and super VA spice, light but delicious. Room note is mostly burley with some vanilla. Lady N makes her presence known but ever so smoothly, a great fix for small jobs around the house. Although advertised as an aromatic Grandma's kitchen will certainly let aromatic smokers down as the topping will be too light. As a burley fan I welcome the added flavor but would prefer a caramel or maple topping. Just personal preference, of course. All in all this blend is excellent but is destined to fit a niche of smokers who like the traditional high quality American burley blend but are looking for a taste of sweetness from time to time.”

I don't know why this is unavailable. It is a good smoke. If anyone knows of a substitute please let me know.

update good nutty burley just over priced for what it is.

UPDATE 12/17/11 STILL as good as ever TRY IT

Ok here is the deal. If you Like Granger you will like this blend. GMK is Just a bit sweeter then Granger. The burley is up front the Black Cavendish is there to mellow the blend and the Virgina also helps keep it a bit sweet. Now the name thing again Russ, When Russ thought of the name he was most likely thinkng of his grandfather sitting in his grandmother's kitchen smoking somthing like Granger or Raleigh on a Sunday evening. With a hint of his Grandmother baking something. The mix of aromas if you can imagine is great. Great blend for the burley smoker wanting somthing just a bit sweeter Will add to my rotation list. Or when I run out of Granger

I approached this blend with a little trepedition after having fallen down the Capital Stairs a few days earlier. I need not have feared though. This is a wonderful aromatic which hasn't been overworked like so many blends in that genre. You can actually taste tobacco in the smoke.

I found it reminescent of Sweet Vanilla Honeydew albeit much toned down. Surprisingly, I think I like it better as a result. I will be cellaring some to see how it holds up to aging.
