Sucks fresh. Like, not good. I’ve let it age a good 6 months or more and to me, it’s a completely different blend and for the positive may I add so with that, my rating is a 4 out of 5. Burleys and aged virginias married together in this blend taste quite nice together after aging in a glass jar for some months. Give it a try.

This is a classic cube cut burley with just a bit of virginia for sweetness. In many ways, it reminds me of Carter Hall, but in cube cut form. It probably has more of a topping than CH, though, as there is definitely quite a bit more sweet honey type flavor than would be typical in an uncased tobacco.

Burns very slow, ideal for outdoors in windy conditions.

I find myself impressed with this tobacco. Not impressed from a complex standpoint, more from its straight-forward taste, texture, and aroma.

This can become "bitey" if smoked too hard and quick, but its flavor is very consistent throughout the bowl. I detect a bit of strength at the last of the bowl, otherwise it is a flavorful smoke from the top to bottom of the bowl.

Mostly a matured virginia plug smoker, and strong enjoyment of the heavy Balkan tobaccos, over the last 10-15 years, I have tried more of the "lighter" mixtures/blends. The cube cut is a change of pace and I like to tinker with packing this in different ways and in adjusting the moisture levels. A reasonable price, I usually buy in 1 or 5 pound quantities.

I usually smoke this in a large group 5 size or oversized bowl, and from packing to lighting, I may wait 20 minutes. Cube Cut is an excellent morning and afternoon smoke and like many burley tobaccos, sets up a nice cake quickly. Very much worth a try, and a tobacco that stays in my rotation.

...a pipe is to be savored...

I really enjoy this baccy a lot. As you are filling the pipe squeeze the cubes and break up or flatten out the cube baccy on top. This will help with the lighting and make for even burning.

I like the flavor of the burley. No bite. Just a enjoyable smoke that will get a compliment or two on the aroma. Some nuttiness and it seems to taste a little bit of caramel.

3 1/2 stars.

This is a very delicious cube cute burley/Virginia tobacco top flavored with soft honey like, giving a sweet ?cream caramel? and creamy orange after taste, it tastes tobacco and smells very nice in the pouch. Burns slow, easy and clean. Small bowl seems to give better flavor.

I added this one to my 10 top favorite Va/burley list.

09-22-04 there is not much to say other than this is a staple of mine that I always come back to when taking breaks from all the other tobacs I smoke. My friends always harass me because I smoke this blend, but I guess it reminds me so much of my deceased Father, I just have to have this in my rotation always. You either like the Burley grassiness or you don't. Packs easily, lights easily, has a nutty, sweet finish. I find it as a nice palate cleanser. Lastly, you do have to smoke it like a VA otherwise it will bite your tongue.

I picked up a one-ounce sample of this when purchasing several other 1 oz bulk samples from PS. Overall, I feel PS makes some of the finest budget bulk offerings and this blend was no exception. In fact, if it had a little more heft to it, I would easily put this at four star, but it was just a little too mild for me.

From what I understand this is a virginia/burley mix that has been subjected to a cavendish treatment. This treatment makes this a mild bite free experience which makes smoking this an easy feat. In fact, it can be smoked mindlessly while attending to tasks without the irritating mouth burn that can so often follow such pursuits. It is nutty sweet yet, from what I can tell there is no topping.

Overall, I wish this just had a little more body and strength to it for my personal tastes, but I still managed to smoke through this one-ounce sample in an incredibly short amount of time. If I was still buying tobacco, I would likely get some more of this one. Since this is a rather innocuous cube cut, I could see where many would benefit by just putting this at the base of the bowl while filling the rest with any other blend to make for a better smoking experience of that latter blend. Cube cuts burn nice and even whereas many ribbon cuts suffer as you near the bottom of the bowl. Lining the base with a cube cut eliminates this problem.

A robust, straightforward smoke. Pack loose and sip slow, with Virginia technique, or it might bite.

Bone dry, it's also a great base layer for any tobaccos on top.

As a straight smoke, it's best behaved in tall, narrow chamber. Good for cobs, but can plug the airway. Pack accordingly.

A good break-in, cake building tobacco, at a budget price. Even if the smoke doesn't suit you, keep an aired-out jar handy for every new or refurbished pipe in your arsenal.

Solid & dependable from batch to batch. Scratches the same itch as SWR at half the price in bulk. I top it with a pinch of Carter Hall to get a good burn going and keeping those pesky cubes from jumping out of the bowl.
