Mac Baren Mixture Aromatic
(1.88)
Where Mixture Modern is at the mild end of the taste spectrum, Mixture Aromatic lies between Mixture and Mixture Modern. Compared to Mixture Modern, Mixture Aromatic is a touch less sweet, but distinguishes itself with a highly characteristic taste and fragrant aroma, while still retaining the special Mixture flavor.
Notes: A.k.a. "Danish Mixture". Introduced in 1991.
Previously sold as Mixture Light. Name change due to EU laws that words like "Light" and "Mild" cannot be used on tobacco products anymore.

a terrible tobacco: So bitter and a lot of tongue bite... it's a waste of money. If you want to kill your taste sense then this is your choice

This is nothing more than a typical sugary sweet vanilla cased Cavendish. No tobacco flavor at all. Yuck!

There is no balance or flavor with this blend except for extreme bitterness in the last third of a bowl. Very boring and dull like this review.

A poor version of original Mac Baren's Mixture, too much virginia, poor balance with the cavendish and the burley, the final result is a "killer tongue blend", with not enough nicotine or taste.

Like the other reviewers, I'll note for the sake of accuracy that I'm reviewing Mac Baren Mixture Mild, not Mac Baren Mixture as pictured above.
This blend reminds me very much of Mac Baren Vanilla Cream. It has that same butter cookie flavor, the same smoothness, the same lack of bite, the same excellent cut and burning characteristics. True to the name, though, this is a much milder version of the standard Mac Baren flavor--so mild, in fact, that it sometimes verges on neutral in taste.
Although I prefer Mac Baren Navy Flake and Vanilla Cream for their fuller flavor, this is an excellent smoke and one that a person could smoke all day, every day, without much damage to either tongue or palate. As with most Mac Baren blends, there is not a lot of development to this smoke, but what's here is very pleasant and would probably go over well even with non-smokers. It goes without saying that this blend is a quantum leap up from the average drugstore aromatic--no wetness, no goop, no bite, just a nice, smooth, mild, pleasant flavor that one could smoke endlessly. In the hundred-gram tin, this stuff is a pretty good bargain, too.
----
After smoking a great deal of Mixture Mild recently, I note that it suffers from the Burley curse, having a tendency to turn bitter in the last third of the bowl. This turn is subtle--nothing like the bitterness of a really bad Burley--but it's enough to keep me from buying more, so I've downgraded MMM to "might try it again..."

I'm not sure if this is the blend that I smoked since the tin was marked 'mixture mild' and had a MacBaren strength rating on the tin of 1 vs. the 2 shown in the picture above. Perhaps they've modified the packaging. Burned very easily and evenly in pipes of varied sizes. MacBaren's rating of 3 for sweet flavor and smell is accurate. My wife's aroma test was passed. Black Cavendish taste came thru and became more enjoyable as the tin dried out slightly. Overall, the taste was not unique from many other MacBaren blends with ~ tobaccos and similar to their new Golden Dice although I preferred this ribbon cut which I found easier to evenly and consistently pack. If you enjoy the MacBaren taste and want a mild smoke with no bite, try this one.
