1955 Tin of Christian Peper Tobacco Company's London Dock, a Division of The Bloch Bros. Tobacco Co, Wheeling WV. (1" wide tax stamp series 125 = 1955)
Tin States: "London Dock Unusually Fragrant and Satisfying is made solely for the pipe smoker and his companions who appreciate the finest tobaccos in a blend of individual character and aroma. The unique qualifies of London Dock are safeguarded by our use of the best possible moisture proof, packages available. Christian Peper Tobacco Co Manufactures of fine tobacco since 1858 Division of The Bloch Bros. Tobacco Co. (INC.) Wheeling W Copyright 1941"
Tin note of strong flowers and mild stewed spiced fruit. Tobacco broken flakes are dark brown and brown with a small amount of light brown. Tobacco is mostly dry though still soft, larger pieces may need some attention. Burns moderately with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. Flavoring is mild to medium, with notes of roses, a mild vanilla like note that fades rather quickly. Taste is medium and consistent, with notes of earth, moderately spicy, floral, molasses, herbal spice, very woody, sour grass, a sweet nutty background note, and a moderately peppery retro. Looking up info on this blend, earlier versions listed Burley, Virginia, Oriental/Turkish and Perique. In this blend the Burley is barely beating Oriental/Turkish for the lead, Virginia is supporting. Perique was late to the party. Room note is very pleasant, and aftertaste is great.
