20/05/2011 I just received an 8oz tin of this wonderfull weed and i can honestly say that this weed will never leave my rotation.

This is a spectacular blend because it brings the best of C&D burley blends on an easy and pleasant smoke. It is purely harmonious, burns perfectly and has all the nuances one expects from an American-English blend. It is medium+ in strength with no tongue bite at all. It burns very cool and always flavorful. It also comes with perfect moisture level. I think it is a lighter version of C&D Burley Flake #4, another stellar blend, but in a loose tobacco form. It is a winner in every possible aspect. Try it out!

The blend I currently have on hand is the one with the 20 year old fire cured Kentucky, so that’s what I’m reviewing.

If you like good ol’ American non-aromatic blends, you’ll like this.

Somewhat on the dry side in the tin and packs easy. Very flavorful and slow burning. The Kentucky does have a big of a nicotine punch. No bite.

One of my favorite C&D blends.

This blend is just a good old fashioned American blend reminiscent of what my grandfather smoked. Ok, he smoked Prince Albert but he would've loved this. The Kentucky burley is the predominant player with the Virginia and Latakia staying in the background but definitely making their presence known. A relatively dry tobacco with no flavorings to muddy the waters. It's just a good smoke to enjoy with a cup of hot tea on a winter night with a good book.

During our 2017 NASPC show, a man wheeled a cart over to my table bearing a huge, lidded plastic tub loaded down to the brim with various and sundry pipe weed blends from the last twenty-odd years and we came to terms. Older on the bottom and newer on the top, I found two tins of this blend just below halfway. They were an earlier version with brass bottoms and a circular picture label on the lid and bore tinning dates in August of 2003; making that wonderful twenty year old burley now thirty-six years old. The tin presentation is of a relatively uniform medium tan tobacco blend in a broad ribbon cut with pieces of some broken flake mixed in. The tin aroma tells you that Latakia is present, but, it also tells you something else. Unlike most other light Englishes, one gets to savor a moderately strong aroma of Red Virginia and Kentucky Burley. My tin was relatively dry on opening and made me wonder just how fine was that tin aroma when this blend was freshly tinned? I remember this blend coming onto the market but, unfortunately, did not smoke it back then when freshly tinned. Speaking of smoking, this blend smokes fairly consistently from pipe to pipe and seems to prefer taller and narrower chambers. Every bowl I have smoked has progressed down the same line of development: top third magnificent and four stars, middle third some what toned down and sagging a little and the bottom third coming back to life in a new and surprising profile. The Latakia now gone, the other two tobaccos get together in a new way and provide a Burley/Virginia smoke of major proportions that is, in essence, four stars in it's own right. Off hand, I can't think of another blend that smokes quite like C&D's Easy Times and recommend it highly with four stars. I only hope some of you can find these pre-2012 tins so you, too, can enjoy this strange, but magnificent, blend.

This tobacco is perfect for a Summer day. It is light and balanced. No one tobacco dominates and the taste is a combination of a little sweet and a little smoke. The room aroma is of a fire fueled by pine or balsam. There are some dark notes, but they are few and far between. The flavor stays the same from first light to last puff. There is no tongue bite and the smoke is plentiful without being too rich. This really would be the perfect tobacco to smoke while playing checkers because it is a nice flavor, but you will not need to give it your full attention. I also think this would be a good introduction to those curious to try a blend with Latakia. For the veteran smoker, this blend will provide a nice and easy smoke for sitting on the porch with a fruity Ale or even sweet tea. The tin I got was a little dry so some rehydration may be in order. Oh, and the nicotine hit is mild. The ash burns down to a fine gray. Unless those around you like the smell of traditional tobacco, this will not win you any admirers, however.

A well rounded smoke that you'll be sure to come back to. The latakia is pretty distant but fills out the taste nicely. Enough layers to keep your tastebuds interested.

A stunning blend...Craig at his very best. I aged this tin for over 3 years before giving it a try. It was worth it. I'm not usually a lover of American English blends, by that I mean one containing both burley and latakia. But this one may cause me to re-evaluate that position.

The sweetness leads the way, but unlike a straight Virginia there's substantial body and smoothness with an additional smokey quality. Quite a feat, really. As others have said, smoke it slowly and you'll be rewarded with some wonderful flavors. The burn is effortless and without any tongue-bite whatsoever.

I wonder if the Kentucky burley is the same one used in Pease's Cumberland.

I can only repeat the many positive things noted in previous reviews, so I won't bother. Suffice to say this stuff is heaven for the lover of American classic blends. Delicious.
