Great smell out of the bag and the room note is very nice. The whiskey taste is the only reason to buy this because you're not going to taste much else. I do get a light citrus and grass from the tobacco, though. It may need a light hydration. Mine was a little dry. If you smoke it dry, puff moderately. The nic-hit is mild. Won't bite or get harsh. Burns slightly fast with a fairly cool, consistent, clean and smooth flavor. Has a nice richness to the taste. Leaves very little moisture in the bowl and easily burns to ash without many relights. Has a nice after taste. An all day smoke.

I really need to catch up on my reviews... I moved from Vegas to Fort Lauderdale a year ago to help my sick dad and boy what a shock the humidity has been!! Forget about Latakia, Balkans, campfires, falling leaves etc.. hot and sweaty, great if your with a woman but miserable pipe weather.. that said I’ve been trying anything Burley or cavendish based. A plus is the average age here is 130 so the locals love my pipe... my uncle this, grandpa that, smells lovely etc..

I just purchased a Peterson Christmas 2015 pipe I’ve been hunting for years, brand new in box from Switzerland. (The blasted billiard with a bronze stem and silver band, IMHO the prettiest Peterson) and am breaking it in with SPW... Smoker’s Pride blends were on sale for pennies on the dollar, of the choices, whiskey and the BC seemed my best options. The BC is of course Lane’s BCA and the Whiskey I’m thinking CB White with the Vanilla toppings replaced. For me it burns cool, smells nice and isn’t a wimp. Added some 5 bros and I was in business.. not ashamed to say I really really enjoy this blend! 🤷🏼‍♂️ Oh btw this blends fantastically with Storm Front! SF with its cigar doesn’t win friends but add a pinch of whiskey and the pitchforks are put away!

The pouch note is sweet and I can believe it is whiskey. Hydration is about right to smoke. It comes in a 12 oz. bag from the local Low Bob's, and is a "value" mild aromatic.

Smoked, it is sweet and burns cool. It is easy to get lit and has a pleasant room note. I don't get much tobacco flavor, but the burley is a little nutty and I pick up some "hay," so I think the base is a VaBur. The end of the bowl had a slightly bitter taste. I had a little dottle and some dampness in the heel, and it might benefit from some drying time.

As aromatics go, I think this is a good one to recommend. It is an easy smoke, and it tastes good. It is mild but not so boring it has me reaching for OJK after I have had a bowl. I can believe this would be a great "all-day" smoke for someone looking for a mild aromatic with a decent taste that is not vanilla.

Not a bad budget tobacco. Pouch and room note are quite good. The tobacco lit well and burns to ash, perhaps a little quicker than I would like. The taste is all whiskey, with no evidence of tobacco coming through. There is nothing unique about this tobacco, but it is better than some more expensive blends I have tried

The pouch note is pleasant and so is the room note. The whiskey flavoring is good and lasts throughout the bowl. The flavor however, is one dimensional, so I wouldn't smoke this more than once a day. Three stars

It's been several months since I bought a bag of SPW. In fact this week was the time to stock up for spring: Velvet, Blender's Gold Burley & Black, SWR and end with SPW. The tobacco has a nice, earthy slightly sweet aroma when you open the bag. The leaf was drier than I remember, but I still let it air out. After giving my pipe a good cleaning and scrubbing the bowl with a plumber's brush, I gave it a whirl. Upon light up you get a somewhat sour, grassy taste (akin to bitter herbs). Once it got going you start tasting the whiskey, followed by some spice and a hint of cocoa. Turned out to be farther better than I expected, although it can burn hot if pushed. A good tamper or two keeps things in check. The room note simply rocks with a subtle fragrance which feels a tad powdery to the nose. So I'll give it four stars because it is quite good. The tongue begs for another bowl when you are finished. Didn't get a bite. On a side note, I would highly recommend using a plumber's brush to scrub out the bowl. Not only has this nifty little tool saved many of my cobs, but it gets ride of the ghost left by other blends. Plus it allows the often looked down upon OTCs to really shine. Which can be very enjoyable- the difference is like night and day Definitely put SPW in your rotation.

Got a large pouch of this for a song. Do I taste whiskey? Notsomuch. Did it bite? Yessir! The trick is dry it out a bit. Open Mason jar for a few hours, and you've got yourself a good all day smoke. Just enough sweetness to satisfy my candy cravings, not enough whiskey to keep me out of the bottle. Bottom line, if you've yet to learn to sip your smoke, dont hurt yourself. Cheers!!!

For the value, I highly reccomend this blend and brand. While the whiskey note isn't very strong, it is somewhat noticeable. I payed $13, tax and all, for 12 oz of this. That equals to around a dollar an ouce which is surprisingly good! When I splurge on premium tobacco it usually costs me $3-4 per ounce, and Smokers Pride is ALMOST as good. This is a good budget, everyday smoke for when cash is tight, or if you are like me, the nearest pipe&cigar store is an hour and a half away.

Only criticism is that this blend gives a lot of bite. I am going to try the SP Black cavindish though.

Recently since the rising cost of tobacco products, I started really looking into Budget bulk buying. I overlooked Smokers Pride bulk poly bags for a long time (I mainly am a pouch hopper!).A week ago & seeing this on here with decent reviews, I went & bought a 12oz. bulk. A Big Surprise! The tobacco looked really quite good in the bag, (1st time actually picking it off the rack at the tobacco shop).***I am not going to compare this with any other tobaccos I like Better Or Worse, I will just say my experience with this perticular smoke. Upon opening this bag, the aroma was rather a surprise, not too strong & I could smell the tobacco smell as well as the flavor, in wich I personally usually don't like a to overpowering cavendish aromatic. It was Moist, But expected in a large bag but just the right moistness to my likings. It packed easily.one light it lit up, No problems lighting & it was in a Large bowl. The taste after I got puffing Was very pleasant (to me exactly as good as it smelled). I kicked back & puffed lightly, as A tendency to draw to hard or puff non stop got a bit hot, but easily & quickly it will cool in seconds if smoked lightly! It is Budget pipe smoke, But found It is well worth buying. I found no bite, just a nice tasting smoke & a rather surprisingly great whiskey taste for a budget minder bag. Thus being said, It was good, & have been enjoying it while going back & forth with other pouches & blends, As I do love a wide variety of pipe tobaccos! Like beers or wines, or cigars, variety in this is the spice of life, I realised after being a long time pipe smoker, sometimes you can find a great smoke in bulk at a price that is economical in these days of money coming into a factor now. This way I can still buy other favorites in pouches or buy less amounts of my all time favs in bulk. I am keeping budget in mind now.BOTTOM LINE- I like this blend, It's a very relaxing smoke! when I have time for a longer smoke, It tastes way better in a large bowl & Be gentle on your puffs & its very pleasant! A good deal & a nice surprise & good taste & smells very nice! Tastes change for me, so I will keep buying SP bulk bags to keep around for rotation of blends! Recommended to a beginner or anyone who likes a good flavor that wont overpower the tobacco. This is the best cheaper whiskey blend I have tried in my opinion. Try it You might like it!

I give this three stars mostly for affordability at 3.49$ a 1.5oz. pouch its pretty good, not to mention one of the best Whiskey blends I have tried. I would buy this over MacBaren Uncle Louie's Whiskey, or Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey. For one the Whiskey is actually recognizable as a flavor much like Peterson's Irish Whiskey. I don't lump the Irish Whiskey with the others though it is a different flavor all together.

It smokes well although has some lighting issues, it can burn hot but usually it behaves itself til the end. There is sometimes a tendancy to get carried away with puffing which really makes the pipe hot, I think it works best in an Apple or a Bulldog style pipe and even better in a bent pipe. My Personal Notes have this as a 6.7 so I won't be smoking much of it except when I want something cheap and good. Give me this and Carter Hall and I am set with Grocery Store Regualr and Aromatic.
