A very strong, very cool tobacco from South Africa. This tobacco should be approached with respect.

I was gifted some South African Blends while visiting a pipe store in Rogers, Arkansas by a forum buddy. I like them, I could live on them and would smoke more of them if they were available to me. Boxer is a strong blend but it is also a kitten as it does not bite. It is very full bodied and has a burley like nutty sweet taste even though it is listed as a VA blend. It comes in an orange celophane pouch, quite large in quantitiy and it is a brown ribbon but that has been pressed to a degree, looks like cavendish. It is dry enough to smoke right out of the pouch and it packs and lights wuite easily and well, though I did have to relight it several times shile smoking it. It burns down to a dust in the pipe a black and grey color. The aroma in the pouch is sweet and not haylike and seems to have a light topping of something though one does not taste the topping while smoking it. The room note is strong and full, but has the pipe aroma of a burley. The "N" factor is there, after finishing a bowl I am quite satified for awhile. If the opportunity to smoke this comes your way, I do recommend trying it, it is a very pleasant smoke. This cowboy has no trouble with it, I wish i had more to smoke.

I got a package sent to me from South-Africa and was I in for a surprize ! I like tobacco with a lot of zest and this one sure has it. It first reminded me of Ogdens Gold-block (now long gone from my market) but with a lot more power. It is a fine cut that is perfect for clay-pipes. There was a small hint of perfume when I broke it open but the taste is only tobacco to me. I like it a lot

I work with several South Africans, and have shared a pipe with a few. Each of them has told me about Boxer, an infamous tobacco from the homeland. Some time ago, one of the South Africans requested a pouch of Boxer from home. Well, it has arrived. Boxer is definitely something to remember. From the first light, this bright orange ribbon-cut tobacco delivers a pure, unflavoured blast of virginia leaf. It is a wonderfully cool smoke, but one must be very careful. I can take only a few puffs before I must put the pipe aside or my head will start to swim. Oy! This is strong indeed! If any of you have South African friends, ask them about Boxer. If you get the chance to try some of this potent stuff, I don't think you'll regret it.
