McClelland Captain Cool
(3.02)
The coolest smoking of pipe tobaccos. It's mild and won't bite the tongue. Lightly fragrant with a hint of vanilla and a touch of mint, always appealing.

I would not purchase this again. Probably my least favourite aromatic so far. The overwhelming flavour is the mint, I can't taste or smell vanilla. Also is way more mild than I like. Perhaps for a first time pipe smoker the mild strength would be suitable.

This tobacco was purchased with the intention of using it to colour my sultan's head meerschaum. Unfortunately, it just doesn't fit the bill. Before I tear into the tobacco, let it be known that I actually do like aromatics, just not this one.
At filling, the tobacco sticks to one's fingers (a pet peeve of the reviewer's). At first light, it sizzles and pops (sign of troubles to come). The flavour never develops past a flat monotone, and the definite menthol element plays havoc with the back of the throat.
Have smoked a whole tin without ever getting through a whole bowlful. Rather a disappointment.

Captain Cool is a pedestrian, utterly lackluster tobacco, wholly lacking in any redeeming quality except for its relative, though not total, bitelessness. Mostly black cavendish (yawn) and burley, it has a thick casing that makes it rather a chore to light and keep lit. Once burning, it's basically a Dream Castle or Smoker's Pride product, offering an uninspiring and dull smoke.
I'm only glad I didn't pay money for this stuff.
