The tin aroma is definitively amaretto. I spent extensive amounts of time just smelling the tin.

This is obviously a high quality product. But I am too experienced to smoke such a tobacco.

This is better suited for the beginner seeking a high quality cased tobacco. For them I highly recommend it.

Salty dogs like myself should avoid it.

This tobacco has me split down the middle. Whilst I love the smell, it reminds me of marzipan on the top of a christmas cake. I am afraid the jury is still out on the taste. As a relative new pipe smoker I ordered this together with a tin of Connoisseurs Choice. That has all gone and have ordered another tin, this one I am still getting through. That tells me something. If I were to compare the two side by side with this being the marzipan topping Connoisseurs choice would be the fruit cake. But to me that wonderful almond flavour doesnt follow through to the taste buds. Whereas CC the fruitiness can be detected on the tongue.

I cant fault the quality of the leaf, it packs well, burns well and has a lovely aroma. To me all those qualities, and forgive the pun, go up in smoke when compared to the much more flavoured Connoisseurs Choice.

Will I buy another tin? maybe one day when I have forgotten what it tastes like. But for now CC is my aro of choice. Must admit though that I am finding Virginia flakes much more satisfying and am gravitating to those as my favourite tobaccos.

Grab the nickel, sssss the tin and twist the top. The aroma smells edible to the point to were you might not want to share. Damp like most Peterson's tins, let it air a bit. I'm a big, picky aromatic smoker. I also smoke and enjoy fairly heavy English and VaPers, for different times.

It comes through, but hot with heavy flavoring. After several bowls, in several pipes, the last part always gets bitter. Nicely though, the amaretto flavor seems to stay. I do not note much tobacco flavor. The flavoring stays on the tongue. The room note is wonderful, but there is nothing but the promise of the future for this blend for me.

I've got two tins cellaring, we'll see in six months... It's quality stuff, but not my liking for trusted everyday, like McClelland 620 or Nording Retriever.

It seems to be difficult to make a 'Amaretto' work. I still haven't found an 'Apple' or 'Cherry' I enjoy either.

From the opening aroma, I wanted this one to work. I won't smoke it now to make anyone happy, it doesn't interest me. We'll see in a few months.

Tin aroma and room note are superb. A very nice Amaretto/Almond casing is prevalent. However, because of how wet this stuff is, it's hard to keep lit without a thorough drying out. Additionally, because of the amount of flavorings and/or casing present, there is an acrid aftertaste that stays with me for what seems like days and burns the tongue like the dickens!

Bottom line: This is a tobacco that's for the standers-by and not the smoker. I'll finish the tin, but won't buy another.

Sunset Breeze is a very pretty looking tobacco with a great tin aroma. I found that is smokes wet and bites badly straight out of the tin. After drying it out it handled much better, but most of the amaretto flavor also disapeared. Now I just get an occasional whiff of amaretto and a very mild tobacco flavor. Regular smokers of english blends are probably going to dislike this, aromatic lovers will appreciate SB but will prefer something else, and novices will likely be turned off by the bite. In my opinion, a premium aromatic should have more going for it.

This one is for the aromatic and amaretto lovers only. If you are not one of them keep your distance!

I opened a two year old tin of Sunset Breeze thinking, "Oh, what the heck. I need to try an aromatic...." Since I haven't smoked one in quite a while. After smoking that tin, here are my thoughts. I found Sunset Breeze to be a good place to start. The tobacco mixture was pretty. It was easy to pic out the different types of tobacco. The smell, be it Amaretto or not, was a bit overpowering. I usually alternate Virginia/Verginia/Perique days with English/Balkan days. This was a bit "overpowering" for me. In other words, it didn't smell like tobacco. That was a major decision making thing. It took me a while to get the initial false light, but once tamped and lit, burned consistently from top to bottom. The problem here is that it was very, very monochromatic. I didn't have any opportunity to pick out any differences of the ingredients mentioned on the tin. Maybe I don't "understand" aromatics. Perhaps it's about the topping, and not the tobaccos themselves. By any rate, I will probably smoke this on occasion just to figure if I got something wrong in my analysis. But, that will be on rare occasions. this to a person who enjoys aromatics, for their something I may be missing.

There are too many other tobacco blends out there that I have either smoked regularly, or want to try. It all depends on my tobacco budget. I guess I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys aromatics, I not necessarily encluded

Sunset Breeze came to me as a gift over the festive season, along with two other Peterson aromatics. Being curious about the Amaretto flavouring, I decided to try it first.

The tobacco is reasonably dry in the tin and visually an attractive melange of light and dark shades. The tin aroma is sharp and winish, not at all reminiscent of Amaretto, at least to my nose. In the pipe it burns reasonably cool and dry, and the aroma is nearer caramel. Other than the cognac in Pembroke and rum in some blends, I find alcohol and tobacco do not always marry happily.

I am fond of Peterson products, smoking University Flake, Old Dublin, Irish Oak and Sherlock Holmes with pleasure, but find it difficult to get very enthusiastic about Sunset Breeze. I am close to finishing the tin, but will not acquire another on my own.

Found an OLD tin of this while helping my smoke shop girl organize some old samples.

Not having tasted this in a fresh tin, I would say that if you stash this away for a year, your going to be pleased with the results.

I did not find this goopy, or overly moist at all, and the smell in the tin after what I would guess is a year of sitting around, was very pleasant.

Lit well, burned well. No bite at all. Little monochromatic in flavor, but again, only smoked half a bowl.

I enjoyed this, and would no doubt purchase a tin of it myself. The smooth flavor, pleasant note to the room and the total lack of tounge bite caught me. Im in a little bit of a rut at the moment, caught between a wanning interest in all things aromatic and finding the right blend to suit my palate, but this was nice.

I give it 2 stars for the moment simply because I have not had the opportunity to truly sample this beyond one bowl, but I will return.
