Dan Tobacco Evening Standard
(2.67)
Broad cut Virginia leaf and darker, heat fermented dark brown ready rubbed Virginia flake, rounded out with a goodly proportion of latakia. A full bodied but pleasantly smooth pipe mixture with a stout taste in the typical English vein. Slow burning with a nicely cool smoke.

Usually I don't like latakia mixtures made in Germany: light, acrid, unbalanced.
This one was a pleasant surprise, though. Sure, it's not perfect, and it doesn't have the rich complexity of my favourites (GL Pease, Squadron Leader, Skiff), but it's a really nice smoke if you want a medium English - style. IMHO it's better than all of Dunhill's current offerings in the same category...
What can I say except that's it's absolutely "Standard" as the name suggests? Don't be fooled by that "evening", though: this is lighter than Nightcap, Bill Bailey's Balkan or similar powerhouses. It's a good afternoon smoke.
Think Bill Bailey's Balkan light and you will have a rough idea. Or Timm 1000 with less finesse and more Orientals.
Though a bit unexciting, it's a blend that I do not regret buying at all.
