Sutliff Tobacco Company States of Virginia
(3.80)
State of Virginia isn't your average blend of pipe tobacco. Actually, it's not a blend at all, at least not yet. Tangy reds, citrusy brights, and sweet stoved Virginias are double cut, discretely pressed and packaged side by side. Sift through the nuances of the flue-cured leaf and find balance that speaks to you, Our ingredients ----Your recipe.

Sutliff Tobacco Co. - States of Virginia.
A tricky one to review, being as the tin holds three kakes of a different kind! Obviously, there's a large possibility of flavours, depending on how you choose to blend them. For this I've smoked each one neat.
The pieces are nicely hydrated, crumble easily, the moisture content aids easy igniting.
The first I smoked was the stoved Virginia. This makes lots of smoke, is fruity with a sugary-sweetness to it, yet also has a 'sharpness'; much sharper than a regular Va. Nicotine: medium.
Next up: Red Virginia. Fruity, really fruity, Think red fruit, plums and some raisins, very decadent. This is my favourite of the three. Again, the nicotine is medium.
Finally: Bright Virginia. Honey and citrus. There's the expected lemon-zest, but nothing too sharp. There's a lovely honey nuance, this calms down any alacrity from the citrus side! Again, the nicotine's about medium.
States of Virginia? Each tobacco is good in it's own right, but it seems a bit unnecessary an idea to me; three different types in a 50g tin? For this reason I'm awarding it only three stars, not four:
Recommended.
