Century - Picaroon 1690 Plug.
It's a dense plug, but unlike some it doesn't slice into neat flakes. Instead it 'crumbles' as it's cut; almost like a biscuit!! To look at, it's comprised of brown, black and yellow pieces. There's a slight essence of whiskey to the aroma, but nothing heavy. The moisture is very good.
The stronger of the tobacco flavours is easily the Orientals. They give a delicate floral note, and a massive sour note. Next is a woodiness from the Latakia, not far behind. The others are much lighter in taste. The Virginia, Cavendish, give a subtle sweetness, a little honey, and certainly sweeten the flavour profile. The St James Perique, although not added in weight, gives a 'cool' spiciness; this gains more recognition as the bowl burns down. Now, the bourbon. I don't particularly get much bourbon-sweetness, but I do get alcoholic 'zest'; not lots, but it works well with the sour Orientals. I've smoked only this since yesterday afternoon and each bowl has burned well, medium temperature smoke, without a bite.
Nicotine: plenty. Room-note: not too nice.
Picaroon 1690? PLENTY of flavour. Recommended:
Three stars.
