W.O. Larsen Selected Blend No. 80 Mahogany Mixture

(2.71)
High grade Virginia tobaccos and black toasted cavendish are blended to perfection in this exquisite mixture. The smoothing touch of aged burley imparts a fresh, light sweet note that is beautifully enhanced when smoked in a medium-sized pipe. This mixture is perfected with the nuances of coffee and caramel.
Notes: Formerly known as Selected Blend No. 80 Light Aromatic, the name was changed to conform to EU laws.

I acquired a tin of this in a small shop in Pennsylvania, where it had been sitting for several years. Opening the tin, I found the tobacco to be very dry, but lit up a bowl of it anyhow. It was pretty bland, and the room note was very mild. I decided to moisten it, and it made all the difference! Although the flavor was mild, it was far from bland. Complex in flavor with a mild sweetness. As Tantric said. It's worth a try.

In my never-ending search for a good aromatic, my tobacconist recommended this. Upon opening the tin, I was disappointed, but this is not to the fault of the fine people at Larsen. Just like with my coffee or chocolate, I do not like the smell or taste of fruit in my pipe tobacco, and that's what I detect when I open up the tin.

Getting past that, it packs and smokes easily, but there's nothing of that fruity tin aroma. In fact the taste is a bit bland. If you're looking to taste something aromatic, then I suggest you move along. But if you want a mild tobacco with a neutral and nondescript flavor with a tolerable room aroma for non-smokers, then this is your tobacco. Again, since it stays lit easily, you can expect to find no tongue bite.

This is a neutral, polite tobacco, and I'll smoke it when I don't really know what I want to smoke. But once I finish the tin, I doubt I'll buy another.

The can intrigued me with it's Light Aromatic so I had to try it. I could not tell when I was smoking it as I puffed harder till the bowl was almost too hot to handle. I also did not care for the after taste

This is a crowd-pleasing tobacco, which has a nice flavor. Unfortunately, that nice flavor is extremely mild, even weak. This leads to unconscious over-puffing, which leads to tongue-burn as the Virginia and the sweeteners get going.

This doesn't rise to my minimum flavor threshold, so I'm not willing to face the scorched-tongue elements. Might do well in a blend with a cooler, more flavorful tobacco.
