Discount tobacco for the Danish aromatics lover or pipe "apprentice". It's like a mid-tier exotic escort: lovely when you buy it, acceptable but not really what you had imagined during, and a slight aftertaste of regret in your mouth after.

Jokes aside: The pouch smell is sweet and pleasant, but not all of it transfers to the smoke itself, and I mentioned it as being good for starters because there is little to no actual tobacco taste to be seen and taking care of it (packing/lighting/avoiding tongue bite) makes you sit down and reconsider your methods if you do it wrong, and you will if you don't dry it a wee bit and smoke it very slowly. Room note is gruesome, while generally pleasant in itself you will get sick of it soon. Its most outstanding feature is the price, and for the money spent on it, it's not half bad. I personally wouldn't buy it again if it doesn't happen to be the only aromatic available (I don't smoke them much anyway), but to each their own as they say. Two stars because it would only warrant one strictly quality wise but for the price it sells around here, it's more than adequate, as I said.

Strength: Mild. My late grandfather called it "children's tobacco" once haha

Flavoring: Medium to Strong. Chocolate, vanilla, coffee, raisins?, some other sweets I can't exactly tell, I'm at a loss to guess all of them correctly or detect which is actual tobacco casing and which is added chemically later. In any case, "subtle" flavor my arse.

Taste: Medium to Full. While not all of the smell and room note can be tasted in your mouth, it's still aromatic lover's galore. Not full-bodied or too complex at all, indeed it's rather flat when pitted against other, "better" aromatics, but it takes a fistful of different aromas and punches you in the teeth for what it's worth so +1 for effort.

Room note: Pleasant to Tolerable. Smells nice but oh dear will you hate it after a while.

Overall Rating: two stars. While a laughable low-shelf aromatic compared to some others, it does good what it has to and it's unbeatable for the price. For fans of the genre (especially those interested in Danish mixtures), worth a try, if only one.

Skandinavik - Mixture.

This is a bit of an improvement on the blend I reviewed from this company a few days ago: Skandinavik Aromatic, that was simply foul. This on the other hand isn't a four star blend, but better than Aromatic.

The pouch contains fairly well rubbed, medium size ribbons, with good moisture and a slightly nonplussing aroma: It smells a lot more aromatic than it tastes. It's quite tricky to put a finger on exactly what the pouch-note is, it smells slightly alcoholic and a little floral.

This is quite simple to light up, and to be fair it burns well. The added flavour comes over at a mild to medium strength: the first added flavour to be recognised is the vanilla from the Black Cavendish. There's nothing floral like I found in the pouch-note, but there is a subtle alcoholic taste: it has the sweetness of rum, but none of the sharpness from it. This doesn't bite as bad as some blends but it still issues a bit of agro, and this is exacerbated by the heat from the smoke; it's not too bad at first, but heats up rapidly.

The nicotine's a little below medium, and the room-note's quite nice.

This is better than their Aromatic blend, but better doesn't mean great:

Somewhat recommended.

The Virginia is mildly grassy with a little citrus as the lead component. The burley is a little nutty, earthy, woody and molasses sweet as a supporting player. The black cavendish offers a mild sugar and vanilla to the proceedings. The sweet toppings are hard to define (orange? and something else?), but notes of alcohol accompany it. They tone down the tobacco a bit. The strength, nic-hit and taste levels are mild. Burns too warm, and can bite if pushed very far. The sweet flavor is very consistent as it burns at a moderate pace. Requires few relights, and leaves a little moisture in the bowl. The after taste and room note are pleasant, but if you don’t sip it, your tongue will let you know about it. An all day smoke.

The fresh smell reminds me of hazelnuts and wine must; but once lit, it has a "dry and sour" taste, typical of northen flavoured tobaccos. It would taste better if smoked in a cold winter day rather than in an italian spring. The flakes, yet humid, still kind of hard when packing into the bowl.

I happened to find half a pouch of this stuff laying around at my dad's house the other day, he's a big Sail Green guy and had picked this up in lieu of his favorite while travelling or something a while back. I haven't smoked this stuff since I was a teenager (20 years ago!) (who quickly became sickened by Captain Black). I swiped the pouch and fired up a bowl on the car-ride home.

In the pouch, I found the tobacco to be fairly dry, but not crumbly, a decent varigated broken flake with a nice aroma that hinted of apple, cirtus, liquorice and (?) lilac (strange...I know). The stuff burns well too, I stuffed the bowl with very little rub out other that the very top and there was no problem keeping the whole thing lit and burning well for the duration.

Initially, there's a few somewhat harsh perfumy notes when lighting, but these quickly give over to a dry aroma that is almost fruity in nature, but not cloyingly so. I detect definite hints of liquorice and possibly mint throughout the top half of the bowl. As you get deeper, the smoke seems to become a bit "flatter" but still has a nice tobacco flavor without the salty brashness that the Skandinavic regular (brown) has.

All in all, a nice mild smoke, and one which I will definately return to pretty soon now that the warmer weather is coming. A typical aromatic Danish which could possibly be an all day smoke if one was so inclined. Since the package that I sampled is probably 9months to a year old, I think I'll go out and get myself a fresh pouch to see how it stands up.

A honest aromatic blend, best enjoyed on the move or together with friends. Some vanilla, some flowery scents... Nothing too fancy or complex, it's my stereotypical idea of aromatization but it does the job and doesn't overstays its welcome.

This tobacco in Italy is commonly recommended for beginners and I believe it fits the role perfectly.

My experience with this blend can be summarized by the term "meh". The topping it's quite interesting, but you could hardly taste it while smoking, and the blend has no complexity, so it's ok but nothing special.

I think that the true story behind this taste, is that you need to smoke it as cool as it gets. After you open the pouch the smell of the Black Caventish with vanilla, cocoa and some coffee bites gives you a pleasant feel for what is about to happen when you light it up. It is the tobacco that everyone who want to start with pipesmoking needs to practice etc. It burns well, the aroma stays unfortunatelly in the room and not in the mouth. It is a blend that can be easy a daytime tobacco without any demands for a pipesmoker. It is a light choice for a light smoking in a good price.
Perfectly well for the meaningless puff puff of the day.

I found myself out the other day and I had forgotten my tobacco pouch. I hit a local convienence store and picked-up a package. I remember trying it in the early eighties and my current appraisel is the same. Eh, not good news, not bad news, just the news. It was ok at the time. Nothing great, nothing that would intice me to pick it up again. I'll keep it in my glove compartment so next time I forget my pouch I'll have something available. OK.

A low quality tobacco,in which the black cavendish dominates quite strongly.I am greek and i would just recommend it to somebody who wants to have a "deja smell" (deja vu) of a greek pipe smoking ambiance.Maybe it would be better to be sold in 5gr pouches, not 50gr, so that once in 2 years i could say:"i would smoke 2 bowls to keep in touch"
