Low Country Pipe & Cigar Edisto
(3.62)
Among the longest free-flowing blackwater rivers in America, the Edisto is the largest river system completely contained within South Carolina. Framed by ancient oaks draped in Spanish moss and historic tupelo-cypress trees, its gentle, steady current meanders over 250 miles to its mouth at picturesque Edisto Beach, reflecting the easy-going lifestyle of those who call its shores home. Low Country's Edisto pays tribute to this local sanctuary with a relaxing blend of naturally sweet red Virginias, pressed and sliced into delicate flakes for the perfect all-day, everyday pipe tobacco.

This is by far the wettest C&D blend I have yet encountered. Not a good or bad thing, just an observation. I like the fact that C&D can be smoked right out of the tin with no dry time, not this one. This one is more Samuel Gawith drowned rat wet and needs about 15 minutes or more of dry time. Age will probably tone this down a bit. Tin note is very muted, some mottled hay with some citrus but very subtle. Once dried, it burns well and has a nice subtly sweet, slightly citrus with nice earthy tones. The Red Virginia is the star but it is blended well with the brights to give a nice all day smoke. Past the half way mark the earthy sweetness over takes the citrus and has a very pleasing aftertaste/finish. Nothing really stands out for me as a straight Virginia, this is a crowded field with lots of good options. This is no better or worse than those that are already in the market. A very good smoke but I will probably stick to the ones I normally go to when want a straight VA simply out of habit. Very nice blend but a "one of many" with nothing notable to make it stand out from others.

Yeasty bread, barnyard, dark stone fruit, little zesty citrus notes, terroir, sweetness.
A really solid blend. Nice mellow smoke with a little vitamin N kick to it.
Burns clean and pretty cool once dried.
Don't rush it, just sip and enjoy ... there's no rush ...
Will stock up on a few tins. It probably will be a lot better with some age on it.
Three starts !
