Rattray's Summer Edition 2020

I think this may be the best *looking* tobacco I've ever seen. There's a fairly equal distribution of Black Cavendish, Virginia, and Burley... but the thing that sticks out most of all, especially when fresh, are the shockingly bright blue little cornflower florets or blossoms. They're really beautiful. As for the scent, the it actually smells a bit like pear flavored tea. It's nice, but there is a hint of something odd, maybe a bit cloying.

First few puffs: Very fresh tastes right off. The Virginia flavor is there with light grassiness, but I don't taste much from the Burleys. The topping flavors are really the main players, though they're really not overpowering. That tea-like flavor is there along with lightly sweet pear and some kiwi, but without the kiwi sourness. There is a faint, slightly spicy, slightly clove-like flavor too, which I assume is from the cornflower blossoms. It gives the blend a really nice kick at the back end. There was no bite at all, and the strength was fairly mild to medium. I've been told by others that the room note is really nice too. Lightly sweet and tea-like.

Bottom line: I wish all aromatics were like this. It's not weighed down or oily with PG. It's nice and light and fresh tasting. Good stuff.
