The bold, vintage bright Virginia shag provides plenty of fermented tart and tangy citrus, grass/hay, bread, sugar, some sour lemon, vegetation, floralness, spice, and light acidity. The very tartly sour lemon grass essence takes a small lead over the rum. In the background is a light strawberry topping. The toppings moderately sublimate the tobacco as they help form a very consistent fruity, sour, floral, mildly acidic flavor that extends to the pleasantly lingering after taste. The strength and nic-hit are a notch past the medium mark. The taste level is a step short of the center of medium to full. Won’t bite or get harsh. It does sport a few rough edges. Mildly complex, it burns slightly warm and very clean at a reasonable pace. Barely leaves any dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. The room note is pleasant. Not an all day smoke. Three and a half stars.
