HU Tobacco Sancho Panza

(3.00)
Complex English taste experience from ready rubbed Virginia, Burley and Latakia. Add to that a pinch of Kentucky and Perique. The two-year ripening period resulted in a balanced blend of sweet and spicy notes paired with a beautiful earthiness and ethereal smokiness. A tobacco for the cozy hours of autumn and winter.

The Cyprian Latakia provides a lot of smoke, earth, wood, some sweetness, floralness along with light mustiness and spice as it takes a small lead. The earthy, woody, nutty, toasty, mildly sugary burley just misses being a supporting player. The Virginia offers some tart and tangy citrus, tangy darker fruit, grass, bread, sugar, vegetation, floralness, earth, wood, and light sour lemon. It’s the base of the blend, and sits in the third slot. The dark fired Kentucky produces earth, wood, mild spice, sourness, and a light barbecue smokiness. It’s a half step ahead of the perique in terms of effect. The spicy, raisiny, plumy, earthy, woody perique is a condiment. The strength and nic-hit are medium. The taste is a notch past that mark. There’s no chance of bite or harshness. Has a few small rough edges. Well balanced with some complexity, it burns cool and clean at a moderate pace with a mostly consistent smoky, floral, mildly sweet, nutty, spicy, savory campfire flavor. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Has a pleasantly lingering after taste, and stronger room note. Can be an all day smoke for the veteran, and repeatable for the less experienced. Three and a half stars.
