Cornell & Diehl Warped: The Red Hunt

(3.45)
A vibrant, invigorating combination of red, mahogany, and bright Virginias, alongside aged Basma and Izmir Turkish varietals and finely fermented perique, and offers a full and commanding complexity. One of the few Warped blends not to showcase cigar leaf, The Red Hunt is perfect for those who desire quality, natural components but don't prefer cigar leaf. Plus, the aging potential of this blend is remarkable. The hunt is over, but the journey has just begun. Virginias, perique and aged Orientals - blended by the aficionados Kyle Gellis & Jeremy Reeves.

C&d-Warped - The Red Hunt- The tin smells heavily topped of cocoa/chocolate and an alcoholic topping. It starts out with the chocolate and then the orientals . The Virginias come in and the perique picks up about 1/2 way down . The orientals lead a little bit and they are spicy and sour and buttery and floral . The Virginias add some fruit and sweetness . The perique adds more spice and dark fruit and gives some body and strength to the blend . The chocolate flashes off a little bit after the first third but the alcohol (rum? ) hangs in there all the way down . It is not a bad smoke and it is nuanced and you taste all the different tobaccos but the toppings are too much for me . I seem to be in the minority here but it honestly just doesn’t amount to a great smoke for me . I won’t buy it again . 2 stars
Age When Smoked: 18 month old tin.
