I think Noorrmm's review describes this very well. This is a very tasty English blend. However, I do not pick up any Turkish. This is an easy blend to smoke, a suitable amount of latakia for an overall smokiness combined with a very nice Virginia component with a naturally sweet undertone and top shelf quality tobaccos. Well recommended to the English blend smoker. Paddy.

I saw a tin in my local newsagent and it looked so lonely sitting there on its own so I thought I would take it home. This was an impulse buy rather than a 'must try that one' purchase and to be honest I wasnt expecting much.
It surprised me. Nothing much in the smell when opening the tin just a mild tobacco smell. Easily lit and very easily smoked. I found it to be very smooth and creamy with a lovely aftertaste of mild sweetness that kept you wanting more. The Latakia reminded me of Presbetaryian Mixture although not as strong.
I will have to speak with my local shop to make sure they get some more of it in stock because for me this is definately a regular purchase.

My first Latakia blend! I remember it well! Quite a different experience from anything before and until recently, having finally gotten round to obtaining some more of the big L. I'm not too sure how good this actually was but I seem to remember finishing it off pretty quick and that it was quite a shock at first but really rather satisfying once gotten into. But then it was my first so.....I can't help but like it.

The Virginia's are very much in the lead, sweet and mellow, with the latakia providing a bit of spice in the background. When I first opened the tin I had a quick sense of Durbar or Cottons but the Orientals were missing and the Virginia was dominant. All in all a nice easy blend.

Very similar to the dreaded Accoutants mixture from Rattrays. Its got real wallop. But lacks subtlelty and finesse. Not a patch on Odessey from Mr. Pease.

Is quite young pipe smoker I found this one just a bit overpowering all round. The tobbaco ozes quality. Rich smokeyness with a good dose of Latakia and some sweet notes. However this is not a smoke for somone of my age and tasts... though definataly one to try 5-10 years down the line.

One of a trio, the heaviest of the group. The others are Parson's Pleasure and Barney's. This is mostly dark ribbon, with the aroma of Latakia. There is a good Va base, and some Turkish spice in the nose. Flavor is just what you would expect from the aroma, full, smokey, slightly sweet and spicy. Good complexity, cool, dry and easy on the palate. A real classic.
