Ripped open the seal and a buttery cream fragrance uplifted. Not a fan of buttery odors. Filled the bowl, lit up, and was pleased with the mildly aromatic burley. No bite. Not strong stuff and will be a pleasant occasional change from the usual diet of Balkans/Englishes, and VaPers. IMHO, could use a slight heavier cocoa/coffee touch to add more zest.
N.B.: 5.18.2022: Smoked a bowl of BMP this evening and realized how fabulous it really is. Despite prior observations, I am enchanted by it just as is.
N.B.: 9.25,2022: Changed to four stars. Sooooo delicious.

The various forms of burleys are very earthy, nutty, fairly woody, and mildly sugary, with a small molasses note. The coffee takes a light lead over the dark cocoa, and deep cream toppings. Though the toppings sublimate the burleys to a moderate extent, they also work synergistically to produce a harmoniously consistent, creamy smooth and mildly sweet taste from start to finish. Those rather rich flavors translate to the short lived, pleasant after taste and room note. The strength and nic-hit are just past the mild mark, while the taste is a step past the center of mild to medium. No chance of bite, harshness or rough edges. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace. Hardly leaves any dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. An easy going all day experience as your morning turns to afternoon and evening.

Ken Byron Ventures - Burley Morning Pipe
This blend is classified as Aromatic, I disagree but what does it really matter.
Blend arrived in a nice Mylar bag, with a mason jar lid label. 2 oz packaged neatly.
Upon opening the blend smells of rich coffee notes, and cocoa/chocolate, slightly wet but not overly goopy.
Let this dry 10-15 minutes prior to smoking, overall great nutty burley flavored and this should be paired with coffee. The KBV listing for this recommends a great technique that helps to bring out the flavor in this blend.
Smokes easily, straightforward burley with some additional flavoring. Glad I got another 2 ounces of this will most likely be my weekend early morning smoke.
High quality burley boutique codger blend.

This is outstanding! Not normally a burley guy, but this has a nutty and slightly chocolate flavor to it and the smoking experience is definitely better with coffee, with cream or black is fantastic! A must try..

From the sample I received, Burley Morning Pipe was on the wet side, but not overly so for an aromatic. It’s ribbon cut with some larger chunks here and there, and vary in different shades of brown ranging from light to dark. The tin note is creamy, toasty coffee, as well as nuttiness, spices, and a little cocoa.
Upon lighting, I am greeted by the cream and coffee topping that is added. It’s creamy, bold, sweet, rich, and impressively authentic. The description says after three minutes the Burleys will shine through and this is true. They are nutty, earthy, very round, and sport notes of molasses and cocoa. The retrohale does bring out the dark roast notes, which also matches the given description. The cocoa is turned up a notch at this point as well. Once the topping burns off a little and the Burley shine through, the two work in harmony to compliment each other’s flavor profiles. The flavor stays consistent throughout the bowl. I highly recommend pairing this with your favorite cup of coffee for your first pipe of the day.
Burley Morning Pipe smoked cool and dry, despite the moisture present in the blend. There was no edge or harsh spots present. It required very few relights and left very little moisture behind. The nicotine content is comfortably noticeable, but not strong enough to over stay it’s welcome. An all day smoke for sure. 4 out of 4 stars.

Well, I am now on bag 3, each with 2 ounces in a matter of a little over a month.
It’s a wonderful burley blend. Great with coffee but also good just to sit back with a glass of water. There’s few aromatics I like. Aromatics are actually hard to blend in my opinion because a lot can go wrong. Most taste of chemicals and artificial. Or they burn hot, wet, inconsistent. This one is NOT that and has none of those problems, As a matter of fact, I don’t think it’s fair to class this as an aromatic as Ken actually uses the burley natural flavoring more that anything else here. Yes, I taste a hint of chocolate, a hint of cocoa, and a creamy latte type flavor. But it’s so subtle compared to the natural burley flavoring. Pair it with coffee and you are in for a total treat and I now smoke this every morning and yesterday, well, in the evening too. It smokes cool, stays lit without relights. I don’t fiddle with this blend. It’s an easy loader. A little wet at first, let it dry out for about 15 minutes and you are good to go. But I don’t always do that and still find it easy to keep lit. If you like burley, you will like this tobacco.
For the price, you get a great packaging service (Mylar ziplock bag) the choice of a label (nice ones too) and free shipping. While this isn’t the cheapest tobacco, it’s certainly worth its weight when you get free shipping included and great packaging. Also, very prompt service.
I’m not sure I can afford to make this my everyday smoke because I smoke so much of it but that’s on me, not Ken. But it’s consistently good and that’s what all pipers home for…so I’ll keep buying it because I can and I am little addicted to this stuff now. Thank you, Ken Byron. Well done on this blend.

The name suits this blend perfectly. This is a morning blend, no doubt about it. The blend is dry, with a chocolatey bag note. The taste is a mild coffee, however, and should be paired with your bean beverage of choice. The casing does wax and wane throughout the smoke, but neither overpowers nor abandons the quality burley that makes this blend. Well done Ken!

From the name, you might be expecting a Burley version of EMP but this goes in the opposite way of that famous English.
The bag note is cocoa/coffee forward like a mocha. The ribbons are combination of browns and blacks. The moisture content is fairly high, but it is smokeable without drying time. It takes a couple of lights to get get going well and a couple of relights depending on your smoking pace.
The taste is coffee forward, with some sweet creamy chocolate notes in the background. The tobaccos come through as a strong base with a dark bread taste a little like toast to me. The overall taste reminds me of coffee cake. The burleys in here carry a nice level of nicotine which sneaks up on me when I smoke it because its a little unexpected behind the aromatics.
It pairs great with coffee in the morning and could be an all day smoke for an aromatic lover. My wife likes the roomnote so it has also been one for me to smoke in the car on road-trips.
It reminds me quite a bit of one of my favorites, Corn Cob Pipe and a Button Nose from C&D.
Overall, I found I prefer the Burlier version due to being able to taste more tobacco taste in it.

Burley Morning Pipe
Blend notes: “Burley Morning Pipe is an all day smoke made for having with morning coffee featuring burley in multiple forms including blackened burley cavendish.”
I agree with most of the TR reviews re this burley blend. It is more interesting than, say, Burley Without a Bite from Lane Limited, but I don’t get most of the flavoring other people are experiencing.
Of course the smell of the raw tobacco in the pouch is amazing. But like many aromatics this does not translate to the smoked experience. I am getting the cream and some whiffs of coffee but more that this is an easy smoking, very pleasant mild aromatic.
And this is what I always want. I love a good aromatic but sometimes the toppings are over the top — like with the cherry and chocolate in Blood Moon Cult.
Not so here. Burley Morning Pipe is one of the best Aromatics on the market today. It is an extraordinary blend. Perfect with morning coffee. A real achievement.
4 out of 4 stars without question.

For myself, I am hard pressed to find congruence while the official aromatic classification of Ken Byron’s mixture. Why? The premier feature of the Burley Morning Pipe blend is the actual burleys themselves. So, naturally in my mind it falls within the camp of Burley-based blends ala your Carter Hall, Edgeworth, or Prince Albert of the world. Although there are additive coatings applied, they function primarily as accents rather than the leading-edge element, that in effect, defines the mixture’s dominant flavoring. A defendable and logical argument by my judgement and I’m standing fast to that conviction.
A true aromatic, on the other hand, is a blend that is designed to grandstand the top-coated flavorings. Are you with me? This often results in an overshadowing of the native tobacco notations within the final taste profile. And that’s quite alright as that is the intent of the blender when he/she formulates the very recipe. Burley Morning Pipe is not an aromatic, however, dang it! Nevertheless, it does demonstrate aromatic qualities one could argue. So, in order to get along, I’ll go along in that vein, (for now).
From Ken Byron Ventures comes an aromatic crack of dawn concoction to enliven that yawning, sleepy-eyed, pillow-headed morning cup of smoking Joe. Forget the Carnation, and the sugar or if you are the bold type, most definitely forget the Irish whiskey. Clumsily fumble for the faith companion pipe and let’s get to moving, “cuz daylight’s a burnin”! Burley Morning Pipe pours forth as a grainy looking coarse cut brew of 100% multi-faceted Burley including blackened Burley Cavendish. In classic OTC fashion, this java is soaked in compatible top-coated matrix of cocoa, chocolate, coffee and what I believe to be lighter vanilla cream. The tobaccos themselves project a healthy state of wholesomeness and the quality of appearance is actually quite good. A discreetly mild excursion, this blend is gentle and enjoyable enough to be an all-day companion.
Coming in a beautifully engineered foil pouch, the smoke-ready visage abridges a clustering of the White varietal, lighter in castings of parched tan and copper hues, while enfolding multivariant hues of sightly browns from the Darks and a smattering of Cavendished raven flecks. Now, there is a level of moisture to this mixture, however, so that must be managed accordingly. During the bowl swigging I did find that even with an extended set-up time, the dampness did persist but became a much lesser specter.
A facing and fragrant pouch waft of delicious “Burley-ness” invigorates and delightfully invites the senses. Lightly sweet and sprightly in demeanor, the blend clearly carries a classic nuttiness and just a tinge of tart/reflexive sourness within the secondary underlay. Further down, a chord of modest pungency wraps around the bottom scent of earthly darker natural wood. Wisp of vanilla cream, nuances of rich chocolate and a shot of stout roasted coffee move in gracefully with an entertaining effort. Of note, there just a wee bit of Burley cigarette-like spice circulating with the perimeter of the aroma as well. Overall, the nose brings a feeling of rich, charming fullness, yes fullness.
There is no question, at least in my mind, that the dominant force moving within the flavor is attributable to the assorted Burleys used with the recipe. In actuality, Burley Morning Pipe does a sincere job of representing the range of standard nuances of the Burley genre, all be those peaceable in concentration. Mainly the tone seems to start predominately nutty, a sweet almond goodness, then transitions to being more forward with a gentle woodiness. A mere morsel sourness comes into sphere of taste alongside native condiments tempered by light molasses and brown sugared footnoting.
Objectively, the topping appears to be applied somewhat diligently but do endow a soft degree of mid-level accenting. Namely the registration of a milky/dark chocolate and tasty percolated coffee comes forward with complementing and muted impact, filling out the depth and roundness of flavor. Evidence of sugary cream seems to hit initially but then tended to taper off with little adieu. With the latter the ambience centered around some pleasing vanilla-like influences all the same. Finally, the essential finishing note offers a bit of stately zest which provides a nice capping finale to the general profile.
Genuinely calm in force, profuse volumes of creamy smoke are expended by the blend’s cool and even moodiness. A very polite gathering of that lovely spicy Burley perfume lightly fills the room ingratiating all that it touches, diminishing quickly with proper manners. There is a bit of gurgle resulting from the noted moisture but in general this is an easy, comfortable, and reasonably dry smoke.
Sip and savor this venture with proper reserve. In doing so, one can aptly catch its inherently relaxed spirit. The realized gratification experienced will be thoroughly enhanced as a result. Secondly, you will avoid that patent Burley pinch that can and often does havoc the mid-rear tongue, a minimal observation but best not push. No worries concerning the nicotine buzz, with this one as its easy on the nervous system. And finally for my most distinguished cronies of illustrious Calabash Club, you will be delighted to know that this blend behaved best inside my new acquired gourd. The cob was a close second in all fairness.
Just like the jolt of a good cup of Seattle’s Best, Burley Morning Pipe is a splendid “aromatic” fair to douse the dawning sunrise. Needless to say, it makes for a pleasurable excuse for that occasional break throughout your day as well. Aromatic? Burley? Just try it as it’s good! I’m done. 3.4 Pipes

This one threw me for a loop at first. Maybe it was the coffee, or other flavors in my mouth. It seemed to have a terrible aftertaste but I couldn't say why.
I've since given it a few more tries. This is one of the few blends I can recall being pleased by how it is cut. Almost like Easter grass, I like it. The tobacco is moist but not so much that you can't smoke it from the bag. The aroma of both loose tobacco and smoke are desirable. The description on the website is trustworthy.
I would not hesitate to buy this or any other of the KBV blends that entice you.
