The various forms of burleys are very earthy, nutty, fairly woody, and mildly sugary, with a small molasses note. The coffee takes a light lead over the dark cocoa, and deep cream toppings. Though the toppings sublimate the burleys to a moderate extent, they also work synergistically to produce a harmoniously consistent, creamy smooth and mildly sweet taste from start to finish. Those rather rich flavors translate to the short lived, pleasant after taste and room note. The strength and nic-hit are just past the mild mark, while the taste is a step past the center of mild to medium. No chance of bite, harshness or rough edges. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace. Hardly leaves any dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. An easy going all day experience as your morning turns to afternoon and evening.

This is outstanding! Not normally a burley guy, but this has a nutty and slightly chocolate flavor to it and the smoking experience is definitely better with coffee, with cream or black is fantastic! A must try..

From the sample I received, Burley Morning Pipe was on the wet side, but not overly so for an aromatic. It’s ribbon cut with some larger chunks here and there, and vary in different shades of brown ranging from light to dark. The tin note is creamy, toasty coffee, as well as nuttiness, spices, and a little cocoa.
Upon lighting, I am greeted by the cream and coffee topping that is added. It’s creamy, bold, sweet, rich, and impressively authentic. The description says after three minutes the Burleys will shine through and this is true. They are nutty, earthy, very round, and sport notes of molasses and cocoa. The retrohale does bring out the dark roast notes, which also matches the given description. The cocoa is turned up a notch at this point as well. Once the topping burns off a little and the Burley shine through, the two work in harmony to compliment each other’s flavor profiles. The flavor stays consistent throughout the bowl. I highly recommend pairing this with your favorite cup of coffee for your first pipe of the day.
Burley Morning Pipe smoked cool and dry, despite the moisture present in the blend. There was no edge or harsh spots present. It required very few relights and left very little moisture behind. The nicotine content is comfortably noticeable, but not strong enough to over stay it’s welcome. An all day smoke for sure. 4 out of 4 stars.

Well, I am now on bag 3, each with 2 ounces in a matter of a little over a month.
It’s a wonderful burley blend. Great with coffee but also good just to sit back with a glass of water. There’s few aromatics I like. Aromatics are actually hard to blend in my opinion because a lot can go wrong. Most taste of chemicals and artificial. Or they burn hot, wet, inconsistent. This one is NOT that and has none of those problems, As a matter of fact, I don’t think it’s fair to class this as an aromatic as Ken actually uses the burley natural flavoring more that anything else here. Yes, I taste a hint of chocolate, a hint of cocoa, and a creamy latte type flavor. But it’s so subtle compared to the natural burley flavoring. Pair it with coffee and you are in for a total treat and I now smoke this every morning and yesterday, well, in the evening too. It smokes cool, stays lit without relights. I don’t fiddle with this blend. It’s an easy loader. A little wet at first, let it dry out for about 15 minutes and you are good to go. But I don’t always do that and still find it easy to keep lit. If you like burley, you will like this tobacco.
For the price, you get a great packaging service (Mylar ziplock bag) the choice of a label (nice ones too) and free shipping. While this isn’t the cheapest tobacco, it’s certainly worth its weight when you get free shipping included and great packaging. Also, very prompt service.
I’m not sure I can afford to make this my everyday smoke because I smoke so much of it but that’s on me, not Ken. But it’s consistently good and that’s what all pipers home for…so I’ll keep buying it because I can and I am little addicted to this stuff now. Thank you, Ken Byron. Well done on this blend.

The name suits this blend perfectly. This is a morning blend, no doubt about it. The blend is dry, with a chocolatey bag note. The taste is a mild coffee, however, and should be paired with your bean beverage of choice. The casing does wax and wane throughout the smoke, but neither overpowers nor abandons the quality burley that makes this blend. Well done Ken!

Burley Morning Pipe
Blend notes: “Burley Morning Pipe is an all day smoke made for having with morning coffee featuring burley in multiple forms including blackened burley cavendish.”
I agree with most of the TR reviews re this burley blend. It is more interesting than, say, Burley Without a Bite from Lane Limited, but I don’t get most of the flavoring other people are experiencing.
Of course the smell of the raw tobacco in the pouch is amazing. But like many aromatics this does not translate to the smoked experience. I am getting the cream and some whiffs of coffee but more that this is an easy smoking, very pleasant mild aromatic.
And this is what I always want. I love a good aromatic but sometimes the toppings are over the top — like with the cherry and chocolate in Blood Moon Cult.
Not so here. Burley Morning Pipe is one of the best Aromatics on the market today. It is an extraordinary blend. Perfect with morning coffee. A real achievement.
4 out of 4 stars without question.

Ripped open the seal and a buttery cream fragrance uplifted. Not a fan of buttery odors. Filled the bowl, lit up, and was pleased with the mildly aromatic burley. No bite. Not strong stuff and will be a pleasant occasional change from the usual diet of Balkans/Englishes, and VaPers. IMHO, could use a slight heavier cocoa/coffee touch to add more zest.
N.B.: 5.18.2022: Smoked a bowl of BMP this evening and realized how fabulous it really is. Despite prior observations, I am enchanted by it just as is.

This one threw me for a loop at first. Maybe it was the coffee, or other flavors in my mouth. It seemed to have a terrible aftertaste but I couldn't say why.
I've since given it a few more tries. This is one of the few blends I can recall being pleased by how it is cut. Almost like Easter grass, I like it. The tobacco is moist but not so much that you can't smoke it from the bag. The aroma of both loose tobacco and smoke are desirable. The description on the website is trustworthy.
I would not hesitate to buy this or any other of the KBV blends that entice you.

Recently I have been back to enjoying some of my favorite Ken Byron Ventures blends, and Burley Morning Pipe (as well as it’s slightly stronger cousin Burlier Morning Pipe) is a big favorite that I have very much enjoyed since discovering it about five years ago. It is a Burley forward aromatic mixture that reminds me of a cup of dark roast coffee with a little bit of sugar and a little bit of cream. Not too sweet. Definitely bolder than something like lane 1Q. While it does have black cavendish in it, that is not too evident in terms of flavor. I’d call it a crossover between a full natural Burley blend and an aromatic blend. It’s a coarse ribbon cut that lights and burns easily, produces volumes of smoke, and is cool. Very nice room note. And if you have never tried Ken Byron Ventures tobacco I would put this one on your list to try as it is a great representation of his approach to tobacco blending. By the way, try adding a little bit of your favorite English blend to it for a real nice English aromatic.

This is an outstanding blend. First taste is the mild coco favor followed by a wonderful mild to medium burley. They both stay the same for the entire bowl. I'm not a fan of aromatics but this one that I truly enjoy.
