HU Tobacco Dark Moor
(3.33)
When the first wafts of mist rise in the late summer and early autumn, the time has come for dark, strong tobaccos. The Dark Moor unites the best brown Virginias in its base, which have been refined with Kentucky and perique. Peaty-smoky Kentucky leaves, nuanced with a hint of perique, in harmony with these brown Virginias result in a sweet, strong blend, which carries an unmistakable smoky-spicy character. This character is reflected not only in a deep, harmonious blend, but also in our created labels that express his soul. A soul that rises in the mist in the morning and loves to join a whisky in the evening.

The brown Virginias provide a bit of tangy dark and dried fruit, earth, wood, some tart and tangy citrus, bread, smoke, grass and a light floral quality as the lead components. The peaty/ vegetative, floral, spicy, woody, earthy, dry, herbal, nutty, smoky, lightly sweet and sour dark fired Kentucky is a supporting player. The spicy, raisiny, plumy, earthy, figgy perique offers a undercurrent of flavor in the background. The strength is a step short of the medium mark, while the taste is medium. The nic-hit is a slot below the strength threshold. No chance of bite or harshness, and has few small rough edges. Well balanced and mildly complex, it burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace with a very consistent, moderately sweet, and a tad more spicy, woody taste that translates to the short lived, pleasant after taste and room note. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Can be an all day smoke. Three and a half stars.

Update one year later: Bumped up to 3 stars, it feels less flat, although I still can't taste the listed components. Then again, that was never my strong suit.
I could have sworn there was burley in that one, but apparently there's none, excluding the kentucky. I guess flat is the most fitting description for this blend. It has virginias but it lacks their sweetness, it has kentucky but it lacks the smokiness, it has perique but it lacks the punch.
