HU Tobacco The Untouchables Special Mixture
(3.40)
Notes: The Untouchables is based on various ready rubbed Virginia and a touch of English black cavendish. The medium-strength tobaccos are characterized by a pleasant sweetness and creaminess. They harmonize perfectly with the cedar and rose aromas used. The Untouchables offers an extravagant taste spectrum that is anything but ordinary. If you are looking for something special, but do not want to give up high quality base tobaccos, the Untouchables is recommended.

The Untouchables is a special mixture, as advertised . An attractive black and gold ribbon with a tin note of cedar . Nice moisture level , really ready for smoking . Primarily a virginia mixture with it's slightly sweet , hay like qualities. The black cavendish adds a sweetness and some body . Both tobaccos are of high quality . I( don't think it will bite. Although this is an aromatic the qualities of the tobaccos come fully through , a skill of HU tobacco blenders . It comes across as sort of a sweetened virginia with cedar qualities , but lightly applied . The cedar taste is unique in that I have never seen it used in pipe tobacco .I wasn't able to pick up the rose at all . This tobacco illustrates how a lightly applied aromatic agent can embellish fine tobacco . I was surprised that this tobacco was made by Dan , a company that usually has a heavier hand with aromatics . I will bring a sample of this to Chicago and share it with Jiminks so we can get a more exact description .

I was intrigued by the blend from the moment I first opened it and immediately identified the cedar essence. I will say the rose essence was harder to find until I bought the wife a bouquet of fresh roses for our anniversary. While the cedar/floral essence is prominent I don't think they overpower the grassy, hay notes of the Virginias. Moisture level is about right but I found it benefits from a little drying as it brings out the flavors more. I may not smoke The Untouchables on a daily basis, but I did buy five more tins. Highly recommended if you are looking for an aromatic that is different.
(Edit: This has become one of my favorite blends. I may not smoke it all day, everyday, but I do smoke five or six bowls of The Untouchables a week.)
