Cornell & Diehl Long Cut Perique
(3.63)
Perique is a special spice tobacco originating from St. James Parish, Louisiana, the only place where it is made. Compressed, heated, and fermented, the result is a strong peppery/fig flavor. It's worthwhile noting that, due to its length, this particular cut of the condiment leaf can be difficult to blend and shouldn't be used unless called for in specific recipes.

Jar note of pungent fermented vegetation and musty wood. Tobacco is dark brown and brown ribbon; it's quite wet drying will be needed to get it lit. Burns moderate with a few relights. The strength is strong and nic is strong. No flavoring detected. Taste is very full and a very consistent beat down, with notes of spicy, ripe vegetation, dry, bitter, musty earth, mild bread, a woody background note, and a very peppery retro. Room note is tolerable to strong, and aftertaste is good.
