The first thing that appears to the senses upon opening the tin is the wonderful sour smell of the Orientals. The smell is heavenly. I am excited to give this a try after being a tad disappointed with Robert McConnell's Va/Pers. The Latakia leads when you light up a bowl, woody, smoky and herbaceous. The Orientals seem to be in equal measure to the Latakia, offering their characteristic sourness and floral notes. The balance between these two leaves is expertly presented. In the backdrop there is a little bit of fresh hay from the Virginias and a hint of spice on the aftertaste from the Perique. The Virginias seem to add a rich creamy body to the smoke. Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. This is an excellent English blend, and has me curious to try more of the genre from Robert McConnell. 4/4

Una excelente mezcla de tabacos orientales, virginias, latakias; permite perderse en el humo disfrutando el momento. Este tabaco ofrece un sabor constante desde el inicio hasta el final. No presenta problemas de humedad y es generoso en el aroma de habitación. Definitivamente será uno de mis tabacos de rotación constante.

An English mix made up of Virginia, Latakia, Orientales, and what makes it characteristic: a bit of Perique. It is a more complex blend than others, quite well accomplished, to smoke at night, paired with a bourbon.

COVENT GARDEN: This blend should be Nightcap clone, so my personal review is double: as a clone and for what it is, for its own merits. AS A CLONE: Similar, but it is not properly the same blend. The main difference is the Perique. I mean that Nightcap is more on the side of Latakia while in Covent Garden Perique is more evident, deeper and more peppery. Excellent Perique and great balance in flavors. C.G. remains a Latakia – based blend, a Latakia mixture, but Perique plays a bigger role than Nightcap.
FOR WHAT IT IS: Very very good, a deliciousness, a delicacy for Latakia lovers and for Perique lovers. Not an all-day smoke: it’s too intense and pregnant in taste. Ideal in the evening, after dinner and in any case after a large meal. Great blend! If you can’t stand Latakia, stay away. In my personal rating system (from 1 to 10) my score is 9 and three stars.

Un ottima EM...detto da uno che non impazzisce per le EM: bilanciata, amabile, da tutti i giorni. Bassa carica nicotinica, una buona risorsa in cambusa anche se, come me, siete amanti degli straight Virginia. Mi è stata regalato per Natale e l'ho davvero gradito. Da il massimo di sè con un buon libro ed una tisana :).
