I haven't smoked Elizabethan Mixture often in my life, but I do have tried some of its incarnations: the early '80s Murray version (good, with fine interplay of sweet and sour), the early/mid '00s Murray version (quite rough, heavy, unrefined), the mid '10s Orlik version (blandish, inoffensive, pleasant but unmemorable).

Regent Street has vague echos of all of them, but actually resembles none. It's a decent blend with a noticeable Perique piquancy and sourness, with a medium body and certainly not lacking in taste. There is a hint of a fruity/floral topping too. It's a bit unidimensional, though, and the Virginias are not sweet/ripe as I would have expected: on the contrary, rather grassy and even a bit harsh and astringent. It's a decent smoke and I wasn't offended by it, but nothing more: I can think of lots of better VaPers (almost all in flake or coin cut form).
