Sutliff Tobacco Company Lavish English #17

(3.43)
Sutliff Lavish English is a latakia-based blend that's not overladen with the black, smoky leaf, but has excellent body and has a long, cool burn. Lavish English is made of sweet Virginia, Cyprian latakia, flavored black cavendish and mellow white burley. It is smooth and rich while not being a "heavy" blend. The balance is quite remarkable and is the kind of blend that you can enjoy all day long.

Sutliff Tobacco Co. - Lavish English #17.

The unlit blend contains an equal proportion of each tobacco, and has an appealing aroma: like a vanilla-English. I can't fault the moistness.

Lavish takes to the flame nicely, and gives a flavoursome smoke. Any tobacco harshness is offset by a vanilla topping, which, although not 'sticky', is notable with ease. The smoke from Lavish' has a fairly heavy build, so this makes an open window a requisite. I can't, and won't, fault the burn from Lavish: cool, medium pace, delivering a bite-free smoke.

Nicotine: below medium. Room-note: pleasant.

I smoked my first bowl about a month ago, but wanted to get a 'grasp' on it before posting; so Lavish English? Nice, silky-smooth, and decadent feeling. Albeit, not quite worth four stars:

Recommended.

Basic English. A little on the mild side, so could be a good intro to English blends. The tin note had a slight bbq-ish touch. It mellowed out well for the smoke. It's a nice, medium English all around.

This hardly feels like an English blend, but I recommend it as an entry level blend for new smokers who want to dip their toes into the genre. There is a creaminess to the smoke from the vanilla casing, and the latakia takes a far backseat although still being present. It's a pleasant smoke with almost no chance of tongue bite. It can work as an all day smoke.

It's hard to rate this one. 2/4 as a flavoured English blend 3/4 as an introductory English blend for a new smoker.
