D & R Tobacco Blenders Bench: Blonde Burley
(4.00)
D&R is a relatively new entry into the premium pipe tobacco market but they have burst onto the scene due to the quality of the leaf they use and the care in which they assemble these fine blends. Ranging from very mild to a nice strong flavor profile these blends have been well received by the pipe smoking community.

This blonde blending burley is very sugary sweet, nutty, earthy, and mildly woody. It’s as sugary a burley as I have encountered, which makes me curious about how it is processed. The strength is closer to medium than it is to mild. The taste sits squarely on medium. The nic-hit is around the center of mild to medium. No chance of bite, and has no harshness or rough edges. Burns cool, and clean at slightly more than a moderate pace with a rich, deeply consistent flavor. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Has a pleasantly, lightly lingering after taste. Not an all day smoke on it own, but works well for that if you want to smoke it straight. As a mixer, it does more to perk up a blend than your average burley.
