As for many latakia lovers, the word "summer" in a tobacco name is enough for me to stay away from it. However, I follow the maxima "live to learn, learn to live", so today I went to the Motzek store in Knooper weg and got 100gr of perique sommer. Now, sitting in my balcony in darkness with a glass of wine, my meerschaum pipe, headphones playing Francis Cabrel's music, and a Ziploc bag filled with this unknown tobacco, I will proceed to give some impressions:
Opening the bag provide a surprise, there are not strong nor invasive aromas as this summer tobaccos use to have. There is a very moderate and pleasant smell far from chemical additives. The cut is thick but pack easily, and lights fast. After a few minutes, the flavor emerges smoothly and delicate, and the smoke rises, leaving a fruty and slightly floral odor. The virgineas, burley, and perique are there.
Nice companion for this summerish night in Kiel, well done TAK. Lets go for another bowl, but listening thelonious this time.....
