I used to smoke this when I was living in Ireland as a very young man and it was a delightful smoke in every way. It is not made in Ireland any more, but on the continent somewhere, someone told me Rumania!
I bought the new foreign stuff, on the premise that there is no point in developing a liking for something which is no longer available. It looked similar, but proved both impossible to light and to keep alight. I cut it into ever decreasing pieces, but all to no avail. This is, unhappily, one to avoid, however romantic it may have been in the past. I ran out of tobacco this evening and reached for the remains of this stuff. It smelt and tasted like an electrical fire.

On the advice of a pipe smoking friend I tried some Erinmore. The tin aroma was a little much for me, but I trodded onward. Packing the pipe was pretty decent once the tobacco was prepared. Upon lighting I was met with a taste that I will describe as skunky. I don't know what flavor this stuff is supposed to be, but reminds me of Juicy Fruit gum. I made it about halfway through the bowl before becoming overwhelmed by the Juicy Fruit. Erinmore stunk up my pipe and I had to smoke some strong English tobacco in it before the Erinmore was exorcised.
