An excellent flake, which differs slightly from it's little brother, the ready rubbed.
There was nothing wrong with the RR, other than the fact that it was tasteless. But this is darker, in colour and in taste, such as it is. You will find firm fingers of flake here that give off an a very slight honeyed fig-like aroma.
These flake strips are arranged very neatly in the centre of the tin (which was a sod to open). They are quite moist, but don't seem to need drying out. They also break up quite easily.
The smoke is pleasant and very little of the topping comes through, and indeed like its stablemate, is fairly tasteless, but with a slight tangy character that I really only detected halfway through the tin. The burn rate is superb, one of the best I'd had for a long time and without gassing poor Mrs RW.
Although this flake has very little taste its still a good blend, and is well worth trying. Possibly an all day tobacco.

Many pipers loved this blend. Most thought it wasn't all that bad & many weren't too crazy about it & a minority found it sorely displeasing. I fall in between the second & third category. Taste is subjective as we all are aware and that's the reason I didn't like it so much. I could not get past the flavor. I guess it was good tobacco but the topping turned me off & negated the taste of the tobacco.
It left a bad taste in my mouth... the same with Three Year Matured Virginia. I don't remember if I finished the tin or not as it's been almost 10 years ago when I first tried this blend & didn't care nor did it matter to me what the flavoring was because it was my first and last trial with Erinmore Flake.

To be fair, I must admit up front I am not into aromatics. I want to be, but after many, many years of pipe smoking I have learned it's just not for me. Therefore, this one will not get a good rating from me, not because of the quality of the weed but because I just don't like it. For fans of European aros, this one might just be a winner.
