Went back and forth with this one. Sometimes I loved it, sometimes I didn’t, but it is quality leaf through and through. The topping wasn’t as reviled as some make it out to be. I love the tin note, chocolate covered raisins with a strange tutti frutti whisper, banana and lemon too. NOT pineapple, cmon people…… This blend definitely has a good little nicotine kick so I prefer it after a night of drinking vs in the morning. It also pairs great with a bold tea, try it with a robust cup of Puerh and be amazed. Took me a while to get through the tin because I rarely found myself wanting a bowl but it’s a high quality classic. Love it or hate it, it’s a must experience tobacco for all pipers.

I wish tobaccoreviews.com had a 5 tier rating instead of 4. I'd put this as a three, right in the middle. Not a bad smoke, not a fantastic one, just somewhere in between.
The Virginias are what come out in front and the fruit essence is certainly there and noticeable. It can have a bit of a bite, a sharpness one might say, which I suspect is from the topping, but its not as "bitey" as some aromatics can be.
This was right out of the tin, so it would be interesting to see if it mellows a touch with age. All said, it's not bad. It's the sort of thing where, I might now race out to buy it again myself, but if I were offered a bowl of it, I'd certainly be happy to partake.
Some have speculated the fruit essence is pineapple -- others have said this is wrong. I'm not sure what it is, but I can see why some suggest possibly pineapple (but if so, it is certainly by no means clear cut). The tin note actually smells a little bit like coconut to my nose, but it certainly doesn't taste so.

Slow burning and cool smooking, very satisfying. One of my favorite flake tobacco ever. You can taste of every puf of it. Every flake tobacco lovers should try to smoke this beautiful tobacco.

I did not like this tobacco very much. First of all, I didn't know if it was my luck, the flakes did not come out of the package properly. Among the flakes were checkers of tobacco. These are not major manageable stuff but I didn't like the taste. So after drinking it, it didn't make me want to drink again. I gifted it to a friend.

I had a can of the Murray version, found it today, came here to read the reviews and decided to open it up and see what would happen,
It's a blend of fruit flavors, not just pineapple, and I found something like Hal O 'the Wynd in The middle. To that end, I added 10%Crumble Va. Perique to my second bowl, and I ended up with Hal O'the Wynd with a slightly fruity texture.haha
I am now ready to buy (STG) - Erinmore Flake and I want to know what has changed.

I love this tobacco, I drink alot of scotch and this goes very well with a Speyside . Although there's a definite citrus topping you get that pure tobacco taste cutting through. Burns nice but sensible .well behaved not overly nicotine heavy but you will be content.hard to.pick fault with this. Dry for 15 mins each side and your in for a long cool satisfying smoke

An excellent flake, which differs slightly from it's little brother, the ready rubbed.
There was nothing wrong with the RR, other than the fact that it was tasteless. But this is darker, in colour and in taste, such as it is. You will find firm fingers of flake here that give off an a very slight honeyed fig-like aroma.
These flake strips are arranged very neatly in the centre of the tin (which was a sod to open). They are quite moist, but don't seem to need drying out. They also break up quite easily.
The smoke is pleasant and very little of the topping comes through, and indeed like its stablemate, is fairly tasteless, but with a slight tangy character that I really only detected halfway through the tin. The burn rate is superb, one of the best I'd had for a long time and without gassing poor Mrs RW.
Although this flake has very little taste its still a good blend, and is well worth trying. Possibly an all day tobacco.

This is one that kind of got lost in my cellar. Bought a tin in 2014 (~6 yrs ago) and smoked a few then just moved on to other blends. It was not memorable. Then, due to moving I have been forced to go through my horde of pipes, tobaccos, ect, came across this well aged jar. So, I figured I would give it a go. I was really pleasantly surprised. I am mainly an English smoker, but do enjoy a little bit of everything on occasion. I really like a strong flake smoke, but I am not necessarily a huge VaBur fan. Perique and Latakia are more my jam usually. Getting off topic. This is a great blend. Its strong, its no nonsense, I dont have to fight it to keep it lit or deal with an inferno that bites my tongue. Just rub it out, pack it in and light up and go. I do not get the overpowering fruitiness that many claim to experience. But maybe that comes with age, as this stuff is well over 5 years old. My only regret is that I did not cellar more back in 2014! I agree with many other reviewers that this is not an all day smoke or will it be in my "regular" rotation, but it will be a very good go to when I am in the mood for a nice strong flake.

Many pipers loved this blend. Most thought it wasn't all that bad & many weren't too crazy about it & a minority found it sorely displeasing. I fall in between the second & third category. Taste is subjective as we all are aware and that's the reason I didn't like it so much. I could not get past the flavor. I guess it was good tobacco but the topping turned me off & negated the taste of the tobacco.
It left a bad taste in my mouth... the same with Three Year Matured Virginia. I don't remember if I finished the tin or not as it's been almost 10 years ago when I first tried this blend & didn't care nor did it matter to me what the flavoring was because it was my first and last trial with Erinmore Flake.

To be fair, I must admit up front I am not into aromatics. I want to be, but after many, many years of pipe smoking I have learned it's just not for me. Therefore, this one will not get a good rating from me, not because of the quality of the weed but because I just don't like it. For fans of European aros, this one might just be a winner.
