Danske Club Black & Virginia
(2.60)
Notes: Basically the same as Black Luxury, but with a bright element of U.S. flue cured tobacco. A very mild and mellow smoke, full of flavor.

Black & Virginia is exactly that, a very mild BC mottled with VA, cased with a little bit of honey. A Danish classic in type. The bowl tends to heat up rather quickly. The honey casing feels discrete and supportive. There is not much to say about this blend, everything is about its mildness.
Not recommended to the seasoned smoker and even to beginners I’d personally recommend something they can actually learn from, with a little more substance and character. At least it doesn’t bite and there is nothing particularly wrong with it.

I received a sample of Dansk Club Black & Virginia from an eBay pipe seller (from whom I purchased a very nice Don Carlos pipe). According to the label on the package, the tobacco is from 1993.
This is the first aromatic I have smoked in some time. As you might imagine, I am not a very big fan of aromatics. That said, I found B&V an enjoyable, if somewhat mild, smoke. The pouch aroma is very pleasant, reminding me of raspberries. On light up, the flavor of the casing comes through reasonably strongly but is more floral than fruity (as its pouch aroma promises) and dissipates rather quickly. By mid-bowl, the burley comes to the fore and pretty much predominates through the end of the smoke.
It lights easily and burns smoothly and consistently, requiring few relights. Smoked slowly, there is no tongue bite. I enjoyed it enough to finish the sample I received but don't plan to smoke it again. Nevertheless, if you are an aromatic smoker, I think you might like it.

wow i get the 1st review of this tobacco! this is a reasonable mixture. not much of an aromatic smoker but this one's a gooden (as in - i didn't mind smoking it now and then) i used to smoke this when in company a few years back, it's tasty tobacco and an enjoyable room note for all. if you're a black cavendish craver then buy a tin tomorrow. a little better than the usual vanilla muck. hmm hard to review something you once enjoyed with regularity but would tend to avoid now... objectivity huh... i'm becoming a stubborn puffer, room note.....pah!
