The very smoky, woody, earthy, dry wine-like Syrian latakia was the main component, though this was no lat-bomb. The buttery sweet, woody, earthy, moderately floral, lightly spicy Turkish played an important second lead, and also sported a dry note or two. The Virginias provided some tangy dark fruit and earth, a light stewed fruit and a hint of sugar as a condiment. The lightly applied cognac topping didn’t tone down the tobaccos much at all, and was a team player in the background. There was a fermented quality to the taste. The nic-hit was a step past mild. The strength level was just past mild to medium while the taste level fell just short of medium. No chance of bite, harshness or dullness existed. Burned cool, clean and rather smooth with no rough edges at a reasonable pace with a very deeply rich consistent flavor from start to finish as it easily burned to ash. Barely left any dampness in the bowl, and required an average number of relights. Had a very long lived, very pleasant after taste. Meaty enough to fill your craving for English blends as an all day smoke.
