This is based on the original pouch made by Swedish Match. I have not tried the new version made in Dem=nmark.
This is one of Borkum Riff's worse offerings.
Way, way over cased, the only detectable taste is the casing insulting your tongue and tastebuds.
The room note is overly overwhelming for people around you.

There's vanilla in this stuff???? I sure couldn't taste any. Milder and certainly less harsh than the whiskey flavored crap they package up. It costs too much for what you get. I could have gotten two pouches of SWR for what I paid for this. It can bite easily.
I give this two stars because it's better than their whiskey flavored dung.

Update: 2/13/10 Having been in another town visiting my granddaughter I had to pop down to their local store and get some tobacco. All the store carried was this and Whiskey. Having reviewed this tobacco not long ago and finding it not all that bad I chose this.
Now I know why so many people complain. I'm not sure if my first pouch of this stuff was new or old or what but the second one was considerably worse than the first one. It was almost harsh and bit me. It tasted more like I'd unrolled a cigarette and stuffed it in my pipe than real pipe tobacco.
When I got home I mixed this half and half with Super Value Black Cavendish. It's actually smoke-able now. You see, there really is a use for Super Value tobacco! Maybe if you took all the tobaccos you hate and mixed them all up in a big jar something good would come out of it. Just don't hold your breath. My original review follows:
Although up above it says "enhanced with aromatic vanilla" I can not detect any vanilla at all. All I can taste is tobacco and it's not all that bad especially when compared to other blends in this line. I've tried two or three of the others in this brand only to find them horrid at best.
Most of the complaints here seem to be that it's too mild or tasteless. I find the strait tobacco taste to be quite pleasing. The tobacco was very dry in the pouch and I could only smell tobacco. Perhaps being so dry is why I could not detect any vanilla. I find this good enough on it's own and will not experiment with adding moisture.
If you love strait tobaccos with little or no toppings I suggest you give this a try. I will actually buy more of this in the future The pouch price where I live was $4.69 for 1 1/2 ounces so while it's higher than other cheap tobaccos it's still cheaper than high priced stuff.
This is easily the best of the Borkum Riff line I've tried but I have not tried them all yet. I plan to cellar just a bit of this to see how it turns out in a year or so.

This is one of the worst tobaccos I have ever tasted. In fact I did not even taste it, because it really has no taste. No smell, no nothing. Stay away.

weak, way too mild, not worthy the price, and in Brazil it is quite pricey, about 13 dollars. i still have about 30grams of it and probably will blend it with some roll tobacco to give it at least some taste.

This blend is the most expensive, and the least tasty of anything I have smoked so far. I dropped $6.50 on a 1.5 oz pack, and have smoked only 3 bowls over 1 month. The stuff is untasteable, biting, and does not have a particularly yummy aroma.

This blend is very BLAND,after about 10 bowls the mild tobacco taste gets very old for the tastebuds.I broke down once and tried this from my local drugstore since this was all they carried for the past several years. The first few bowls were alright but after that,it was all downhill from there.

I bought this one at the recommendation of a co-worker (a long-time pipe smoker), and honestly, it was a mild disappointment. It's not so much that it's a bad smoke as much as the flavor is just extremely mild, which is basically what it advertises itself to be ('Ultra Light'). The room note is nice enough, not overpowering, as it does have a nice aromatic quality, and it burns fairly well, but there's just not much to it aside from that.

Well, this was my very first pouch I had when I bought my first pipe. Well, I've had worse. It is a mild tobacco, but with lots of aroma in the room. My wife loved it. I didn't know how to pack properly at the time, so there were many re-lights. It did taste well, and that's all I can remember.

Mostly dark tobacco, strong pouch aroma of vanilla / truffle / walnut, something like that. Long cut.
Very mild in strength, but over cased because it was biting like crazy right from the start. The lack of strength incitates one to puff harder, which increases the bite attack.
And, for one of the rare occasions known to me, the girlfriend of the time - and check this, we were in a café, and not a small one- asked me to stop smoking it because you could smell it overwhelmingly about 35 feet away!
So, it stopped there, with my full agreement.
