Seattle Pipe Club Narrows Bridge

(2.33)
From P&C's website: The Northwest is known for its cherries, and Narrows Bridge brings that sweet flavor and aroma to the Seattle Pipe Club brand. Smooth black cavendish, nutty burley and sweet Virginia are complemented by the essence of tangy cherries and softened with a warm, creamy note.

The nutty, earthy, woody burley, and the rather citrusy, grassy Virginia are barely noticeable. The sugar from the black cavendish is more obvious. The deep, rich, mildly tart, very sweet cherry topping greatly sublimates the varietals, and also sports a slight creamy, and lightly distracting syrupy note. The strength just passes the mild mark, while the taste barely steps over the medium level. The nic-hit is sparse. Won’t bite or get harsh. Burns cool and clean, and a tad slow as the tobacco is a little moist. The flavor is consistent from beginning to end. Leaves some moisture in the bowl, and requires a little more than an average number of relights. Has a very pleasant, lightly lingering after taste and room note. The cherry is intense enough that I would not classify this as an all day smoke, but it is repeatable. Two and a half stars.

The jar had a 2017 excise tax, and judging by the soaked wrapping paper, the tobacco in it was very moist. Upon opening it, I immediately caught a berry note of cherry jam, cream, caramel, and there was a nutty hint of burley in the background. But most of all there were berries. In my childhood, every store sold cheap caramels - "Strawberries and Cream", "Raspberries and Cream", "Currants"... Their flavor reminded me of tobacco, causing a slight nostalgia.

The blend had a lot of Cavendish in the color of dark roasted coffee, almost black, dark burley, as well as milk chocolate Virginia. Virginia sliced smooth ribbon, the rest - as it turned out. No need to knead. The tobacco is moist, but loose, and therefore easy to smoke.

The tobacco is very light, one on a scale of five. The flavor is sweet, with a syrupy note, but when smoking adds a nutty and woody flavor of burley, and Virginia is almost not felt. The flavor is very pleasant, although a bit heavy, and not as harmonious as, say, Peterson Holiday Season 2011, which also has a berry flavoring. The blend is not uncomfortable to smoke - does not bite, the smoke is not hot. However, despite the moistness, the tobacco smoked quite hot and ran out quickly.

The smoke has a distinct berry note, it feels like the smoke from burnt caramel. But it is light, and dissipates quickly.

In general, there is not much to add to the above. A sweet pleasant dessert blend with a somewhat intrusive cherry flavor. There are better blends, but this is also quite good as a light dessert.
