My tin had a date on the bottom of 3-14 so there was about 20 months of age on this. On cracking the tin, I wasn't sure what to make of the aroma, very spicy. Not pepper but holiday baking spices but not entirely. Perhaps more ginger than nutmeg but it was hard to isolate individual scents. The moisture level was just right and lighting burning was a breeze. If I had to choose something to compare this to, the closest thing I've had was McC's Smyrna (which I'm guessing makes up a good chunk of the oriental leaves added here. All in all a nice smoke, perhaps worth keeping a couple tins to age and enjoy on occasion. I can see how some would put this into the aromatic category but I believe all the spices are natural occurring flavors from the oriental and not an additional topping but I could be wrong.
